As a fantasy/fairy tale author, I really appreciate these epic reimaginings of old classics. This is my genre, this is my plot, this is my love!
What are you talking about, Jessica?!
I'm talking about the sequel to Snow White & The Huntsman, fool! (Don't be offended, I call everyone fool).
That movie that was weakened by Kristen Stewart and ruined her relationship with her then boyfriend. We won't get into that. I don't care if you liked her in it. This movie would have been much stronger with a different lady playing Snow White. That lack of passion in her, what should have been inspiring speech, was deflating and it saddened me. But enough of that!
This sequel was teased forever ago, but I wasn't sure it was going to happen. Now it looks like it's totally happening and it looks terribly awesome!
Check out the trailer now.
Seems the Evil Queen has a little sister. Instead of the suffering but good Elsa type in Frozen, this is a bitter woman who has it out for love.
In The Huntsman: Winter's War, we get to see The Huntsman's (Chris Hemsworth) origins as the Ice Queen, Freya's (Emily Blunt), huntsman. But when he and another one of the huntsman fall in love, the queen has a fit and the two find themselves at war with her.
But what is the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) doing there when she was supposedly killed by Snow White? Turns out she can be summoned from what was once her magic mirror, and she's traded in her black crow feathers for gold.
With a fantastically talented cast, cinematography that remains true to the first film that sucks you into a world of fantasy and fairy tale without being cheesy, and some action that takes advantage of sorcery and melee combat, along with more magical creatures, this has all the potential in the world to be a truly epic fairy tale twist.
I'm excited, are you?
