The release of a new film is normally music to our movie-loving ears, so naturally the torture of being told that a movie has been made but we'll never get to see it because it's being locked away for 100 years has us all like...
In what seems like a very expensive and long-winded publicity stunt, luxury cognac brand Louis XIII has enlisted Robert Rodriguez and John Malkovich to make a film, aptly named 100 Years, that will not be released until November 2115, when we are all dead and buried!
The project, which is in honor of the cognac’s 100-year aging process, will have only one vinyl copy that will be placed in a time-locked safe for 100 years to mature, just like their high-priced liquor.
Written by and staring Malkovich, along with Marko Zaror and Shuya Chang, the plot of the movie is a complete secret. In fact, the only information that the Louis XIII brand has revealed is that it is set in the present day, with director Rodriguez adding that it is an 'emotionally charged' work.
Making a point of clarifying that they are NOT trailers for the actual movie, three teasers were created depicting different versions of what the future might look like when someone uncovers the film in 100 years.
Malkovich, who is said to have studied futurism as well as historically based ideas on how the future will look, decided on three versions of 2115 for the teasers:
“An incredibly high tech, beyond computerized version of the world, a post-Chernoybl, back to nature, semi-collapsed civilization and then there was a retro future which was how the future was imagined in science fiction of the 1940s or '50s.”

Intrigued? Me too... kind of.
Well, I guess there's nothing left for me to do except set a reminder for November 18, 2115... Someone, please, review the movie in 100 Years?
