In light of the terrible tragedy that happened last week in Paris, I figured I would make a Top 5 list of the best scenes where the hero is vanquishing the terrorist. Now some of you might not agree with this list, but this is just my opinion so take it any way you like. By the way, if you haven't seen these films on this list than you're running into a few Spoilers. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
5. Die Hard (Hans Gruber Death)
Who didn't enjoy it when Han's fell to his death from the 34th floor of the Nakatomi Plaza? I sure did. Alan Rickman made his big screen debut as the diabolical villain Gruber, a role that turned him into one of Hollywood's go to dark foes on screen. Who knew unclasping a watch could take down such a methodical bad guy?
4. Invasion U.S.A. (Chuck Norris Blows Up A Baddy)
An overlooked cheesy action film from the eighties starring the toughest guy to ever live. Invasion U.S.A. is a fun film with terrible one liners and Chuck Norris playing a one man army. How could you have a list of terrorists being sent to the afterlife without Chuck Norris blowing up a bad guy with a bazooka? It's a kick ass scene that gives the film a satisfying ending.
3. Lethal Weapon 2 (Diplomatic Immunity)
Murtaugh, probably the second toughest guy in the Lethal Weapon franchise, had the best kill out of the four films as far as I'm concerned. Don't you hate it when a diplomat takes out his papers, throws them in an officer's face, and says "Diplomatic Immunity?" Well Murtaugh said screw it and just shot the guy after the villain put a few holes in his partner.
2. True Lies (Rocket Man)
James Cameron's classic with Arnold Schwarzenegger still makes me giddy when watching it. Probably the best action film behind Terminator 2 to come out of the nineties. I'd say this is the most unique kill on this list of a man hanging off a rocket being shot into a helicopter full of his henchmen. Who didn't want to cheer in victory when Arnold uttered the line, "You're Fired," while hitting the button to send the villain to an abrupt end? I sure did!
1. Air Force One (Get Off My Plane)
If this film didn't make you feel a little more patriotic and proud to have Harrison Ford as our president...Wait a minute...it was just a movie and not archival footage? Well anyways it was a great feel good, proud to be an American action flick with an even better ending for it's main antagonist played by the always sinister Gary Oldman. It's not really the death itself that was awesome but the one liner delivered by Harrison Ford before breaking the bad guys neck that made this scene.
