It was one of the most iconic moments of daytime television and had such an impact that it still comes to mind whenever anything good happens in my life. Hell, most of us didn't even watch any talk shows, but that didn't stop us from shouting out excited proclamations at the top of our lungs.

I'm talking, of course, about Oprah's classic "You Get A Car!" moment from 2004, when her guests went absolutely apeshit upon discovering they had all won brand new cars. While the audience were screaming, crying, and presumably fainting, Oprah proudly bellowed, "You get a car! You get a car! Everybody gets a car!"

Let's relive that moment for some reliable laughs

Based on this moment alone, I firmly believe that if Oprah isn't a god, she's the closest thing we've got to one on Earth. She makes legions of full-grown adults react like a 5-year-old on Christmas morning, which is probably the funniest and most rewarding superpower you could ask for.

The giveaway inspired one hilarious SNL sketch

With women turning feral, celebratory make-outs, and heads rocketing to the ceiling, it's actually pretty hard to distinguish this from the real thing.

Then the internet got ahold of it and made it a pretty popular meme

One that is still totally relevant today. But while we were all laughing at this unforgettable piece of history, we just assumed that this was part of Oprah's Well, it turns out that's not exactly the case.

Over 10 years later, Oprah explains the wild excitement of "You Get a Car!" / via Buzzfeed / via Buzzfeed

The TV legend sat down with ET's Nancy O'Dell and quickly got to talking about her long-running show's most memorable moments. Immediately, the conversation turns to that pivotal day when everybody got a car, and Oprah explains how it got so hectic:

“I was saying that because people were screaming so loudly they didn’t know what was going on. Prior to that moment, I had said, ‘Open up your boxes. One person has a key.’ So when I looked at the faces of the audience, they go, ‘But I have a key … but she has a key,’ so that’s why I said, ‘You get a car! You get a car!’ to try to clarify, because they all looked so confused. Everybody gets a car!”

So, the mass hysteria that ensued when everyone realized they had a key caused Oprah to gather all her host strength and let out her jubilant generosity.

For something that's caused such an undying sensation, it's got a pretty lowkey origin story, but I'll take any excuse to bring "You get a car!" back into the news.
