I'm a huge fan of Cinema Sins on YouTube. That being said I couldn't wait for them to review Mockingjay Part 2. There were far too many sins that I NEED to point out. So...here we go....
Up until this point in the series I've been a fan of The Hunger Games. The movies were engaging, fun, and provided a strong female lead that Hollywood needed. However this film seemed to take all that and throw it out the window.
Sin #1- Forced PSAs
At the very beginning of the film Thor's brother (Liam Hemsworth) provides a line that is the tackiest, most annoying thing I've ever heard in a film.
"It’s like kissing someone who’s drunk; it doesn't count.”
While I believe this is a line said in the books, it was unneeded in the movie and seems WAY too much like a PSA to Young Adults everywhere.
Sin #2- The Magic Plot Saving Oil
In this movie The Capital has placed PODS all over the city to prevent any rebels from getting to Snow. The trap that made the least sense to me was the oil attack. The heroes are chased by this black oil as they climb up into the building. The oil stops RIGHT before it gets to them. It then dries within 1 minute as Liam steps on it and says "it's not going to leave footprints, let's go"
IT'S NOT GOING TO LEAVE FOOTPRINTS?!?! Yeah Right?!
Also THAT'S OIL DUDE, HOW ARE YOU NOT SLIDING ALL OVER THE GROUND????
But whatever keeps the plot going I guess....
Sin #3- Mutts: How The Capital Could Have Easily Won...
"After President Snow realizes that he did not manage to kill Squad 451 and that they escaped into the Transfer, he sends lizard-like muttations after them. The mutts were four-legged with sharp talons at the end of each finger, had tight pale white skin and were the size of humans." (http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/Muttation)
So apparently Mutts can be released ANYWHERE. I thought they were only in the Hunger Games arena, but nope, Snow just releases a bunch of monsters and kills half Katniss's team.
WHY DIDN'T SNOW JUST MAKE HUNDREDS OF THEM?! He could have produced pods that just released hundreds of thousands of monsters and killed all of the rebels! It's so obvious....There isn't even a need to have the knockoff storm troopers.
Sin #4- Everyone Out Acts Jennifer Lawrence.
I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but....
Whether it was Josh Hutcherson or the Guy With His Tongue Cut Out, this is the first film where everyone was a better actor than J-Law. She seemed like she was just kind of there as a prop for everyone else to act around. Maybe her character was written that way, but I feel there should have been more defining moments for her in this "epic finale".
SO WHAT DID I MISS? DID YOU LOVE THIS FILM OR HATE IT?
