In flashbacks, Prince Khufu and Priestess Shiera keep their love a secret from everyone. Vandal however sees the two and is jealous of Khufu. In the present members from Team Flash and Team Arrow group up and stay at a farm just outside of Central City, to protect both Kendra and Carter. They try to learn more about Vandal and how to stop him. Carter continues to try and help Kendra regain her memories so that she can help them defeat Vandal.
Before they begin their work, Oliver goes to see Samantha, after seeing her with a little boy at Jitters. He thinks that William is his son and tries to get the truth from her. He is able to get a strand of hair and goes to Barry to have it analyzed. Malcolm orchestrates a meeting between Savage, Barry, and Oliver in order to negotiate. On the way Barry "ghosts" and sees another version of himself running through time. They meet Malcolm at an abandoned warehouse and he tells them the reason he arranged the meeting. He says it is because he is afraid of Vandal and so he can protect Thea.
Savage demands that they turn over Kendra and Carter, or he will destroy both Central City and Star City with the Staff of Horus. Back at his lab, Barry runs the tests that confirms that Oliver is William's father. Felicity finds out and goes to talk to him. Oliver asks Samantha if he can be part of William's life and she agrees as long as he doesn't tell anyone he is the father, even William. Back at the farm Oliver and Felicity get into a heated argument over the matter and she storms off. Oliver goes inside with Barry to talk with the rest of the group. They devise a plan to deliver the pair as a ruse to get close enough to destroy the staff.
Cisco designs a pair of gauntlets to enable Barry to grab onto the staff. Oliver tells his team to stay put and they go on to confront Vandal. The plan fails; Kendra and Carter are killed and Savage uses the staff to destroy everyone else in the city. Barry escapes and runs fast enough to go back in time to the point of the original negotiation with Savage. Barry informs Oliver of his time travel, so they change their approach to their plan. Oliver tells Cisco to talk to Kendra, as he is the one who will be able to get through to her, which he does.
Oliver's team obtains a beta max of Dr. Aldus Boardman , a Classics professor at St. Roch University, who is an expert on the story of Chayara Prince Khufu. He speaks of an event that happened thousands of years ago which could unlock the way to stop vandal. Kendra remembers that she and Carter were killed just before meteors hit and destroyed everything. Before they died, they were able to transfer their life force into the Staff of Horus and a blade. The team realizes that they need Nth metal, a special metal that came down with the meteors that gave Vandal his powers. Cisco, Caitlin and Felicity outfit the gauntlets to be used by Barry with Nth Metal after Barry retrieves it. They deliver Kendra and Carter again, but with everyone's help Barry is able to steal the staff. He and Oliver use it on Savage, destroying his body.
Afterward, Kendra and Carter decide to use their powers to help others in another city. Cisco says his goodbyes to Kendra and gives her an amulet made from the Nth Metal that contains a tracker. Barry tells Oliver that he should make an effort to be in his son's life and hugs him goodbye. Oliver goes to see Samantha again and the same scene plays out from the other timeline. He lies to Felicity about the whole thing when they get home. Malcolm shows up at the building where the fight happened and collects Savage's ashes.
The first part of this crossover had a good amount of action and it really kicked it up here. Vandal Savage has got to be the best fighter without crazy superhuman powers to appear on the shows. He took on Team FlashxArrow all on his own and made it look like a walk in the park.
William Clayton: Oliver's son with Samantha. legends of tomorrow is getting a Connor Hawke like character, so maybe it's William from another earth. Oliver clearly want to be a part of his sons life, but that could spell trouble.
Dr. Aldus Boardman: A Classics professor at St. Roch University, who is an expert on the story of Shiera / Kendra and Prince Khufu / Carter. He spoke of an event that gave Vandal his powers and that he would be the one to end the world. He is going to be a recurring character in Legends of Tomorrow, so it was cool to see him make an appearance.
Team FlashxArrow- A group that stops super villains together, stays together. What we loved most about this was that everyone interacted with each other. Even if it was for a brief moment. Everybody brought something to the table and they got the job done. I mean they had to or else everyone would have died.
Vandal and Everyone- He is up there with Damien and Zoom, but is also entirely unique. He's taken on both teams without even breaking a sweat. I sure this is one of the first times he's had this much trouble getting to Kendra and Carter as well as being the first time he's been defeated.
Oliver and Felicity- Where does she get off. I mean let the guy breath. He literally just found out about his child before you decided to scream at him. Oliver himself needed time to collect his thoughts and think of what to say. We really felt bad for him
Oliver and Samantha- Oliver finds out that William is his son despite the fact Samantha told him he wasn't. I understand why she would want to keep this from getting out though. She only knows half of what a dangerous life Oliver leads and this could be what complicates things. It was nice for her to let him be there for his son though.
Oliver and William- We've seen Oliver play the playboy, the older protective brother, the vigilante, the hero, the politician but it was something else entirely to see him with William. You can see he is going to be an amazing father. Only thing is there is too much that comes with being Oliver Queen. His son will just be added to the list of names of characters who could be on the grave list. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.
Team Arrow- So Oliver has his team come out with him and leave Star City unprotected. Then when they go through with the plan in the first attempt, he tells them to stay put. That in itself may have been one decision that effected the outcome of that timeline. The second time around, thanks to Barry of course, everybody was brought into the mix.
Barry and Oliver- I love how Barry came to Oliver for help, but in the end it was Barry who saved Oliver. He helped him find out that he has a son and to make the right decisions. He even forced Oliver to give him a hug at the end. That wasn't so bad was it Oliver.
Team Flash- Barry and his team actually operated a lot better than team Arrow. Well at least they were all for the most part getting along and getting things done. You can just how much more lighthearted their world is from the Arrow team, even though they have to deal with meta humans and an unstoppable speed demon.
Kendra and Cisco- She could have just made her own destiny and stay with Cisco. If Oliver and Felicity have been together this long, why could they be. If Patty and Barry call it quits next, they should just stop the whole relationship thing altogether on these shows. There is no reason she should have chose Carter when it was Cisco who helped her embrace her abilities.
Kendra and Carter- Okay they are long time lovers, but their relationship in the present was super forced. They barely even know each other, at least in this life, and she runs off with him. Back in the day, they were pretty good together, but that's ultimately what got them killed.
Kendra, Carter, and Vandal- This is the reason Vandal is the way he is. He tried to make some sort of love triangle with the two because he was interested in her. Obviously he was a super creep, but he did not need to murder them. Then again we wouldn't have gotten this super awesome villain that he turned out to be.
1975- The date on the beta max the team played of Dr. Aldus is one of the timelines the Legends of Tomorrow will be visiting. You can see Rip Hunter dialing it in his Time Machine/Vehicle. It looks like they are going to have to save Dr. Aldus before Vandal gets to him. We just love these Legends set ups.
Nth Metal- It is a special metal found in the DC Universe. It is native to Thanagar, the home planet of Katar Hol and Shayera Thal. Among the unusual properties of Nth metal is the ability to negate gravity, allowing a person wearing an object, such as a belt, made of Nth Metal to fly. In the show they made it part of the meteors that had given Vandal is powers. The team used it on the gauntlets Barry used to be able to hold the staff of Horus. Cisco also made an amulet for Kendra out of it.
Sunstone- It is a type of crystal used on the planet Krypton, both as a building material and as a form of computer system. Several incarnations of the Fortress of Solitude are made mainly from the crystals, or otherwise incorporate them into its design. The crystals are activated upon exposure to water, whereby they begin growing, sometimes forming structures. They may also take on the properties of other stones near them at the time they begin growing. Cisco mentioned it while talking about the Nth metal.
What's to Come/Theories:
Looks like someone is going to be biting the dust in the mid season finale. Damien Darhk is back in full force and takes the fight to Oliver Queen himself. Now that we have a couple of characters on the death list, we are wondering who it's going to be. We've got Felicity, Thea, Samantha, and William. All of them would tug on Oliver's heartstrings should they be the ones to go. Looks like the happy times are about to be over. Malcolm also put Vandal's remains in a jar and it looks like he is going to be the one to bring him back. Damn it Malcolm.
The crossovers could just be the two teams getting together for the holidays and chilling, we'd be happy with just that. The whole Vandal story arc is far from over, but they set him up very well on these shows. He's definitely one of the better villains they have introduced. I also thought the whole time travel thing was interesting and definitely came in handy for our heroes. Run Barry! Run! What did you guys think about the FlashxArrow crossover? Leave it in the comment below, we'd love to read them.
