Check out our podcast down below to hear us talk about this episode:
Kara continues her heroics around the city when a drone targets her. She is quickly able to dismantle it and takes it back to the DEO headquarters for analysis. Hank and Alex trace it back to Lord Technology, so they go to talk to Maxwell while Kara get's back to her day job. Cat can not find anybody to watch after her son Carter, so Kara volunteers. She tries to get Carter, who is shy, to talk, when he reveals his crush on Supergirl. Lucy tries to patch things up with Jimmy, who does not want anything more to do with her. She later tells Kara that the real reason she broke up with Jimmy was because he was to caught up helping Superman. Jimmy saw it differently and thought that she took her job too seriously and did not pay any attention to him. While Jimmy and Kara are talking at a restaurant, another bomb goes off in a building near by. She is able to stop the building from collapsing, but another drone is shown to be watching her from above. Hank assigns Alex to watch over Maxwell while they try to figure out who is setting off the bombs in the city and whether there are still more. Maxwell disregards Alex's warning to not attend the launch of his train and insists on going. As Maxwell and Alex are talking they are called by one of his employees who find a bomb there at his office. He tells them to leave and says to Alex that he can defuse it. He is unsuccessful and the timer of the bomb begins to tick again, giving them a minute. Alex calls Kara who leaves Carter with Winn and heads over to stop the bomb. Kara flies the bomb towards the sky and throws it, but is knocked out by the blast. While she drifts in an out of consciousness, Kara sees Hank with his eyes glowing red, but then wakes up. The DEO and Kara work together and they suspect an ex employee of Lord, Ethan Knox of the bombing. They follow leads to two different locations. Alex and Hank head to the train station while Kara goes to save the people on the train. Jimmy goes to the train station and is reunited with Lucy in the chaos. Ethan boards the train with Carter boarding it with Maxwell. With time running out on the bomb at the train station, Hank tells everyone including Alex to clear out. With his eyes glowing red, he uses his abilities to tear through the bomb and stop it from detonating. When he walks out, Alex asks what happened and he says it was a dud. Kara catches up to the train and tries to convince Ethan not to kill everyone on board. He says he can not stop it as his daughter would never look at him the same. After seeming like having a moment of clarity he pushes the detonator. Kara detaches the car with Ethan in it and stops the other half from colliding with it. Back at the DEO Alex finds out that the bomb was real and wondered why Hank lied to her about it. Kara is met at the office by Cat who is upset at her for not watching Carter closely, despite him wanting to see her again. He also tells her about Supergirl and what a great hero she is. As she leaves Cat's office she sees Jimmy Lucy and goes to her desk, sad. Her and Winn watch the news to see Lord taking blame for everything that happened, but also saying that he did not know an employee of his would do such a thing. Kara then realizes that it might not be Hank, but Lord playing them from the beginning, so she confronts him. While not directly admitting to doing so, he says that everything she had went through was a test, to find out her limits, and ultimately, who she is. Before leaving she tells him that she will be keeping an eye on him.
As always there were some awesome action scenes in this episode. Most of them were mostly to display some pretty amazing feats of Kara. Here are some notable scenes that we were able to catch!
Carter Grant- Cat's only son, who seems to be socially awkward. He seems to be the only person his mother actually talks to with some compassion and is actually a good kid.
Ethan Knox- A former employee at Lord Technologies who is revealed to be the bomber. He says that he was being forced to do those things because his daughters life was being threatened. He wasn't the villain, but the victim. It was sad to see him go out the way he did.
Kara and Alex- These two are still on edge about Hank and continue to search for more dirt on him. Alex gets extremely worried after Kara is knocked out by the bomb and goes rushes to her sister when she wakes up. She even has time to give her sister relationship advice and not to friend zone herself with Jimmy.
Kara and Hank- They were actually pretty civil with one another this episode. He actually complimented Kara after seeing her support the side of the building and watched over her as she healed. Even though he may be a Cyborg already doesn't exactly mean he's a bad guy yet. He's proved this episode that he somewhat has a heart. He's just really good at hiding the fact that he cares. Or does he?
Kara and Winn- This guy seriously has a heart of gold especially with everything he did for her this episode. He watches over the kid she was supposed to be watching and doesn't even get a pat on the back for it. Come on Kara wake up! It's killing us, seeing you do that to poor Winn!
Kara and Jimmy- She is definitely in the same boat as Winn, now that Lucy has come to town. Even though she has feelings Jimmy, she ultimately tells him to work things out with his ex. Way to friend zone yourself Kara. Alex warned you!
Kara and Lucy- I was really expecting Lucy to be this really shallow person, but it turns out that she is just misunderstood. No hostile moments between the two yet. Yet.
Kara and Maxwell- Turns out everything was all orchestrated by Lord this episode. While we did suspect him from the start, he proved how deranged and obsessed he really is. Now I'm really excited to see how his character develops and whether or not we will be seeing OMACs in the near future. He has definitely become a lot more interesting.
Alex and Maxwell- There was some awkwardness between the two, and although the look great together, I don't think it should happen. They are the complete opposite of each other, with one wanting power, and the other trying to keep power in check.
Alex and Hank- Despite her not trusting Hank anymore, she showed some concern for him when he stayed behind to dismantle the bomb. Then he lies to her about it being a fake when it was the real deal. What kind of game are you playing Hank?! You might have saved all those people, but you are hiding something man!
Jimmy and Lucy- It turns that these two had a complete misunderstanding, which led to their break up. The only problem I had with this, is why they couldn't have talked it out like adults. You know why? "Cause story" is what our friend Brachmed would say. They had to pour it all on Kara, who could be focusing on Winn. Come on now.
Kara and Cat- Just when things were looking good for these two, all of that fell apart at the end. Kara continues to be berated by this woman every time they see each other, with Cat only showing kindness after things go her way. Looks like it won't be like that next episode though.
Kara and Carter- If only he had known Supergirl was his babysitter. You can see on Kara's face how happy she was that he was crushing on Supergirl. He even put in a good word to his mom about Kara.
Cat and Carter-This woman is actually capable at showing love and care, but only to her son. He means a great deal to her and we saw that nice side of her. Calm before the storm though.
Toyman- So long as I see Winn playing with toys or him referring to them I will continue to point it. Up until we actually get to see his father of course.
What's to Come/Theories:
Red Tornado is coming to town and I'm actually pretty excited. People have been giving the show flack for the way he looks and have been comparing him to a certain "android". Let's just look past that and see whether or not the episode will be another one for the books. Looks like Kara is a bit out of character as well with her exploding at Cat Grant. I wonder if we are going to be seeing some Red Kryptonite pop up, or maybe she's just had enough. While Kara is slipping in and out of conciousness she sees Hank with his eyes glowing red. I wonder if she'll remember it. We all know he is already Cyborg Superman, but we can't tell if he's a bad guy just yet.
These shows were meant to be lighthearted and COMICAL so yes there has to be some cheesiness. There are plenty of other choices out there if this isn't your cup of tea. With that being said, this week's episode dove deeper into some characters we've been wanting to know more about. It had just enough action to satisfy and the lovely dovey scenes weren't too much. "How Does She Do It?" get's our approval though it could still fine tune some bits. What did you think about the episode, leave in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
