When you think of the kick-ass women of horror, many awesome screen memories flit through your mind. Kathy Bates in Misery, Mrs Voorhees in Friday the 13th... But there is no more recognizable female horror role than the classic Universal monster First Lady: The Bride of Frankenstein.
Elsa Lanchester delivered the iconic monster stare in 1935 and guess who Universal have their eye on to reprise the role for the remake? It's only Angelina freakin' Jolie!
It's rumored that Universal put up with the massive financial blow and critical panning of Jolie's artsy By the Sea purely in order to sweet-talk her into donning the wig for Bride of Frankenstein.
A studio rep for Universal made these very flattering comments for the epic box office fail that was By the Sea to THR:
"Following our successful collaboration with Angie on Unbroken, we jumped at the opportunity to work with her again. Her script and vision for an intelligent and sophisticated film appealed to us, and we wanted to be part of it."
Not Sidney Prescott or even Carrie can come close to the famous Bride of Frankenstein in the Horror Hall of Fame stakes... can Jolie handle it?
