It seems FOX is not afraid to jump right into the deep end when it comes to remaking beloved classics. Not only are they planning to remake the quintessential romantic musical, Grease, but they're also going to do the whole thing live.
Grease: Live will see John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John's 1978 blockbuster adapted for the small screen, although you can also expect to see some big name talent. Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough will headline the cast, playing Rizzo and Sandy respectively, while Gossip Girl and Graceland's Aaron Tveit takes on the role of Danny.
The first pictures showing the trio in costume have now emerged online, so make sure to check them out below:
How do they stack up compared to the original cast, well you can compare them to the image below:
And, y'know, just in case you need a synopsis, FOX has obliged:
The beginning of senior year means the end of Danny and Sandy’s summer romance – until Sandy unexpectedly transfers to Danny’s high school. Can Danny maintain his bad-boy image as the coolest member of the T-Birds, once he and Sandy start going together, and can Sandy remain a good girl after she joins the Pink Ladies? With their friends Rizzo and Kenickie pulling them in different directions, it’s up to Danny and Sandy to stay hopelessly devoted as they make their way from Rydell High to a new frontier.
Grease: Live also stars Keke Palmer, Carlos PenaVega, and Carly Rae Jepsen. You'll be able to see all them, and any potentially hilarious live bloopers, when it airs on FOX on January 31, 2016.
