Full backs are swiftly turning into 2 of the most pivotal positions in the game. Having quick, strong and skilful wing backs makes for even more opportunity to own the flanks, contain the opposition and allows for more silky interplay on the wings which will allow more central players to roam unmarked.

Get this position right, and you should see your WBs creating in excess of 15-20 goals a season.

Naturally, the main job of the central defender is to stop attackers from operating in their positions, and interrupt opposition play. Though if you're like me and like a safe, tiki-taka passing game it's best to have one of your defenders laying off the ball to your DM as a Ball Playing Defender and the other, basically, tearing through opposition attackers by selecting the stopper duty.

The man that attempts to thread the ball through the eye of the needle, or dance his way into space for a shot, the AM is one of the most attractive roles in Football Manager 2016. Acceleration, Pace, Agility, Balance, Vision, Flair, Passing and Teamwork are pivotal attributes to keep an eye out for, because you don't want your star AM blasting long shots wide when you're losing 2-1 in a final with 2 minutes to go...

If you like a holding game, use a False 9 or Deep Lying Playmaker to confuse your opponents, or if you're lucky enough to have a rocket of a forward, go ahead with the Poacher.
