Halo is one of the defining science fiction franchises of our generation. Its influence over video gaming is undeniable, and it has long been a popular basis for everything from books, to comics, to YouTube shows. Recently, the Gravemind behind the series has turned its insatiable desire to entertain to a new field: movies.

Over the past few years, we've seen live action films/series in Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and Halo: Nightfall. Not only were these received well by audiences, they demonstrated a step forward for video game-based movies. Now, Content Media and Sequence are making a move into full length animated films with their new feature, Halo: The Fall of Reach, an adaptation of the acclaimed novel of the same name. I don't know about you, but a couple weeks is a long time to wait. So here's a few awesome exclusive clips to hold you over.

The first video shows the iconic Spartan John-117 engaging in a "light" gym workout not long after his augmentation procedure. Superhuman strength, speed, and stamina all come easily after the treatment. The augmentations cost lives for some and limbs for others, but those who came out healthy... well, they won't be needing a yearly physical any time soon. Of course, losing friends isn't an easy thing to cope with. A few ODSTs with bad attitudes are the perfect subjects for some stress relief.

The future Spartans were hand picked as children by Dr. Halsey for their natural physical and mental gifts, but that doesn't mean they're all cut out for the rigors of being a Spartan. Difficult training killed or washed out many candidates, cutting out the weak links before they ever had a chance to break the chain. It's brutal, yes. But so are the enemies of the UNSC. If Chief Mendez can't break the Spartans, no one can.

Some men are leaders, some are followers. It's often clear from an early age. We get a great look at John's aptitude in this final clip, instructing Sam-034 on a meeting location down by the river. The clip really showcases the beautiful animation as well, specifically the shots of the frozen river and snow covered forest. It's this beauty that the Spartans will be entrusted with defending.

Halo: The Fall of Reach is now available on iTunes and other major digital platforms, courtesy of content media. If you happened to pre-order the Halo 5: Guardians Digital Deluxe Edition, you'll have access to it when it comes out. For everyone else, keep an eye out online and at retailers for your copy.
