One of the most hated movies of 2015 is definitely Fox's rebooted Fantastic Four, a travesty on almost all levels. The film tanked both commercially and critically only scoring a laughable 10% Critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and only grossing $167 Million worldwide on a budget of $120 which when you add on marketing budget, means the film lost the studio money, but Fox were still adamant that they had plans for the franchise.

Well, earlier today the film was wiped from Fox's upcoming release schedule according to a report from Box Office Mojo.

It's no surprise that the "planned" sequel has been scrapped, with such bad critical reception and poor Box Office appeal, Fox would be stupid to even consider moving forward with a sequel. The movie was scheduled for a Summer 2017 release which seemed outrageous, the only possible way this movie could make some actual money would be to stick it in either January or February where almost no big films are scheduled for release.

Josh Trank certainly wouldn't be returning to direct the sequel due to the whole behind the scenes disaster that happened on the first film and the cast themselves don't seem interested at all in coming back, Kate Mara didn't even see the damn thing.

Fox are perfectly okay sticking with their X-Men series, it's a proven hit. Next year there are three X-Men films hitting theaters; Deadpool, X-Men Apocalypse and Gambit (if it isn't delayed). Of course all of us want to see Fantastic Four's rights revert back to Marvel Studios but I don't see that happening anytime soon but lets cross our fingers.
