Battle of Jakku Will Prelude To The Force Awakens
EA has confirmed previously that the Battle of Jakku DLC will be set 29 years before the events of Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens, which is set to release next month. With it we can not only expect to get hyped for the upcoming movie, but also experience new maps and a new game mode. Executive Vice President of EA, Patrick Söderlund, had this to say.
The Battle of Jakku is a free DLC pack that adds two new maps (including one for popular modes like Walker Assault and Supremacy) and a new mode to the game. The coolest thing is that it’s the only place you’ll be able to experience the pivotal events that help shape the look of one of the next iconic planets in the Star Wars universe. We can’t wait for you to step onto Jakku for the first time with us.
The new game mode introduced to Star Wars: Battlefront, called Turning Point, will see 40 players taking part in the Rebel Alliance coup against the Empire. In order to be successful in this game mode, players will need to fight through various Empire checkpoints and eventually work their way up to capturing the Empire base. But of course, we can expect the Empire to put up a impressive defense to halt the Rebel advance! Make sure you bring plenty of Thermal Detonators - you're gonna need them!
More Free Maps You Say?
That's right! Söderlund has confirmed that EA will be releasing more free maps and Star Cards after the release of Battle of Jakku.
We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We’ll have more to share soon.
As Söderlund stated above, EA hasn't released any details regarding what maps we can expect to see in the future. So we all have to play the waiting game for more information! But I truly hope that we see the return of some beloved maps and game modes from Star Wars: Battlefront II. Can't tell you enough how much I want to experience Galactic Conquest again!
If you preordered Star Wars: Battlefront, you'll be getting access to Battle of Jakku on December 1. Everyone else will have to wait until December 8 to get their hands on the DLC. The [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021) Season Pass will be released sometime in 2016, bringing in a bunch of new characters, maps and game modes. Until then, make sure you get in a few games in preparation for the Battle of Jakku! See you guys on the battlefront!
