That's right, the trailer for [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) is here! And you can check it out below.
This will be Marvel's 13th addition to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), following the events of this summer's Ant-Man, and The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The trailer opens with the final cut scene we saw post-credits of Marvel's Ant-Man, making what appeared to be very ambiguous at first quite clear. Bucky Barnes - The Winter Soldier - has returned, but this time, with the memory of who he really is. Many believed that the events of The Avengers: Age of Ultron would be our spin-off point towards this film, being the crucial event to lead into the Superhuman Registration Act; which requires all Superheroes to register their Secret (or not so secret) Identities and power-sets with the government to allow for accountability and proper training. Now, however, it may actually be the combined events and deeds of the Winter Soldier over the decades, along with the Avengers latest act that truly sets the event of Civil War into motion. We do see allusions to the Sokovia Incident (Sokovia Accord's [trailer 0:57] - that finally makes sense! *cough* Ant-Man *cough*)
The biggest things to note from the trailer
Firstly - the return of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. It's been a long time since anything related to "The Incredible Hulk" has actually found its way back into the MCU, especially since Mark Ruffalo had taken over the role from Edward Norton (Thank God! - Sorry, Ed). But this takes us full circle, returning the Incredible Hulk movie back into standing with the MCU. Could we see him turn to the Red Hulk in this film? Only time will tell, but rumours suggest Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as The Hulk in this film, and if it's truly a Civil War between hero's, a heavy hitter like the Red Hulk could be the only thing maintaining the balance of the War, a hulk on each side.
Secondly - The Lines have been drawn! We get a real glimpse at each side of the issue. A quick cut-scene shows Iron Man, War Machine and Black Widow on one side, and Captain America, Hawkeye, Falcon, The Winter Soldier, and The Scarlet Witch on the other
The Unknowns - At 1:56 in the trailer, during the chase scene between Captain America and The Black Panther (Who by the way looks BAD ASS) there is a guy jumping onto a car that amidst the fast scene we could assume is Captain America. BUT IT'S NOT. Freeze frame and we see this guy not at all Captain America.
Excuse me but is that Tom Holland's Spider-Man??!! An argument can be made it's the winter soldier, but why go to the trouble for that 1s it appeared in the chase scene. I'm not certain but the possibilities are just killing me!
Speaking of, where is Spider-Man?? And Ant-Man for that matter? (Yes, the argument can be made he's just too small to see)
We've also yet to see the reveal of Martin Freeman's character whom is presumed to play a substantial role, perhaps not now, but down the line.
Black Panther - what side is he really on? So far we've only seen him fight with Captain America and his team, so it's possible he's team Iron Man - but what if he's just stuck scouting for his nation of Wakanda? Could he be our MacGuffin?
War Machine - another demise? After Quicksilver's death in Age of Ultron, are we about to see another casualty of war so soon? Perhaps a little more impactful with a long standing character?
All-in-all though, was that not epic?! And remember, that's only the first trailer! Imagine all the reveals to come! Could we maybe even see a surprise Doctor Strange appearance in the film's release? If they've given us this much, there's bound to be something hiding in the film as the real surprises!
