Ahhh, the Rocky franchise. Now I'm a rather newbie to this franchise, I've never seen any of the movies until a few weeks ago because I watched I-V on Netflix, and I gotta say, the Rocky franchise is probably one of my favorite movie franchises of all time, so before I go into my review of Creed, I'll just give you a quick rundown of what I thought of the Rocky movies.

Rocky I- It's a masterpiece. Probably one of my favorite movies of all time.

Rocky II- Not as good as the first, but still a great conclusion to the first one.

Rocky III- Just flat out fun, liked it more than Rocky II, but not as much as the first.

Rocky IV- It's silly, but really fun to watch as a guilty pleasure.

Rocky V- It's garbage.

Rocky Balboa- Haven't seen it, but I heard it's good.

Alright now that I've been pretty well versed into the franchise, I was really looking forward to Creed because it's about Apollo Creed's son. Now my suggestion is if you have the time, watch Rocky I-IV before seeing this one, it'll make your experience even greater. But if you don't have the time, you don't half to watch all, but at least watch the first one. Anyways on with the review!

Good: Alright. This is one of the best movies of the year. I laughed. I cried. I cheered. I got angry. Never before has a movie made me express all these emotions like this before. After this movie, I felt like I could accomplish anything. The story is so great, the directing is amazing, and the movie feels just like Rocky I. I love Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed and I cannot wait to see more of him in the future. Sylvester Stallone as Rocky in this movie is legendary. I swear to god if this dude doesn't get any sort of Oscar recognition or something like that, I'll riot. Rocky is one of my favorite movie characters of all time (ooh that sounds like a good top ten!) and his arc in this story is touching and beautiful and just about made this movie for me. This movie sends the message of no matter how many times you get knocked down in life, or if it seems like you're at the end of the line, fight back and never give up, which makes me want cry just thinking about this film. The last thing that I'd like to say about this movie is the score. I absolutely love the score to the first Rocky, and this movie had some of that Bill Conti flavor, but also with some modern stuff. I love Creed's theme in this movie, it's just as good as Rocky's! I could go on and on about this movie, but I don't want this to be too long.

Bad: Now I had only two tiny problems with this movie, but they are kind of spoilers so if you have seen the movie and want to know, ask me about it in the comments. One's just a nitpick, and the other not that big of a deal.

In the end, I hope Star Wars: The Force Awakens is what Creed is to the Rocky franchise, a sort of passing of the torch, and honoring what came before it. This movie is truly incredible and is definitely up there in the best of the year. I'd also say I liked this more than any Rocky film except the first one. So I'm going to give Creed a 9.75/10. Seriously, if there is not any Oscar nominations for this movie, I'll die.
