While Erik Selvig has been through some serious psychological trauma over the course of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has become a staple of the story, interacting with heroes and villains well beyond the Thor storyline. His unexpected cameo in [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035) was a little more tame than his previous turns, and while some fans may expect him in [Thor: Ragnarok](tag:956858), actor Stellan Skarsgard is still holding his breath.
Speaking with Digital Spy, the actor gave fans just enough information to speculate.
They have an option on me. I don't know what decisions they'll make, but they have an option on me for the next Thor movie.
The potential is there, and it seems as though Skarsgård is definitely into the idea. But if the light goes green, will the good doctor get up to any of the crazy antics that made him so memorable?
When you're standing naked at Stonehenge, you don't think of the enormousness of the universe you're in ... You think of the cold and how small your dick will be, if Disney is allowed to show it! But I worked with very good directors and I've had a lot of fun doing it Of course, doing Selvig is not as challenging as it is to do 'River' (his latest film), but it doesn't mean it's boring. I'm having a lot of fun (playing Selvig).
With the third Thor film in development, time will only tell whether or not we'll see one of our favorite Marvel scientists again.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
