The holiday season has come and what better time to think of others instead of just ourselves. Trying to ease the fandom tension that has taken over between shippers including fan favorites on both shows. Carina Mackenzie, who writes for The Originals and has contributed great articles and interviews with The Vampire Diaries cast, posted a tweet yesterday to address the negative atmosphere brewing up again between shippers in both fandoms. I applaud her effort to trying to take a negative and turn it into a positive.
Many may be familiar with Klaroline Magazine who started two years ago from a community of followers and fans of what Julie Plec has called The Eternal Ship, fans of this ship love The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Klaus( Joseph Morgan) and Caroline(Candice Accola King). The Klaroline Gives Back Campaign which has helped many projects and even those in need in their fandom. Has taken advantage of their huge fandom following proving what you can create and accomplish with one vision and one cause. The Klaroline Fandom has created an outstanding community of followers, a digtal magazine, fandom events and of course charity events since 2013. The current project helps Doctors without Boaders which delivers medical aid where it is needed. Please check out their page and donate.
Fans who love Klaus ( Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) a ship on The Originals, have started an excellent campaign to help breast cancer research. Kayley's Go Pink is an awesome call to all who have, known, know or fought breast cancer. Which has affected millions of women around the world. This project helps bring awareness with donating to futher research to combat this disease. With a majority of our viewers being female this is a perfect way to get awarness of this disease out to a larger venue for this amazing cause. I love this project and what it stands for as I too have seen many I love effected by this. Please check out the page and donate.
Fans who love Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Camille ( Leah Pipes) another ship on The Originals, have started a anti-cyber bullying campaign to help The Jed Foundation against all forms of bullying and emotion stress with an a powerful message of love is louder. This was set up by a fan who was inspired by actress Leah Pipes (Camille O'Donnell) who herself has dealt with negative views towards herself and the charater she protrays on the show. I applaud this effoct in trying to bring attention to this ongoing issue which has affected not only famous people but many people in the world. Please check the page out and donate.
What we don't want to happen with all of these wonderful charities is a compeitiion.
I'm very pleased with all the effots and thankful for Carina promoting a positive idea. Cyerbulling is nothing new in holloywood or if your a person in the public eye. Hate is still wrong and should never be condoned, wheather you are a fan or not of a charater or show. In fact this has been an ongoing problem in our fandom. Candice, Joseph, Phoebe and a lot more fan favorites have experience the same as Leah including writers of each team for both shows. Also recently TV media writers have been targets, ones who give an opioioun on how they view or see a show. Which is still professtional and part of their job. So please let's support our favorites instead of trying to tear them down for storylines, ships or things we do not like. It's a show and stories change and nothing last forever. There is a bigger world out there with more problems than if "my ship is OTP." So let's enjoy these stories as much as we can, focuing on the positive and not the negative. There has been negative messages on the pages of each cause promoted bragging about what one has raised versus what the other has raised. That is not what this is about. In fact The Klaroline Fandom has been doing this a lot longer, so regardless of if you started your page in a day or a month, let's look at the bigger picture and raise above this. I'm sure the charities and Actors/Fandoms that represent each would not approve of this. So please let's keep a positive outlook moving forward.
If you would love to donate to each charity or project below there is direct links and twitter pages to contact if you have questions. Also while we are helping, check out the actor pages. Most have had projects ongoing or in the past that has help charties they represent. Keep the love going if you would like to do more.
