Between Jessica Jones, Agent Peggy Carter, and Kara Zor-El, 2015 has been a great year for comic book women in television. These ass-kicking characters are awesome on their own, but it's great to see them standing together and supporting one another.
In the midst of the ongoing feud between Marvel and DC for cinematic universe superiority, Jessica Jones's Krysten Ritter has set aside any allegiance to give a quick word of congratulations to Supergirl's Melissa Benoist.
Ritter posted the following image to her Instagram page along with a message of warm wishes after hearing that CBS has ordered seven more episodes of Supergirl, rounding out its first season with 20 in total.
Had a second to get caught up on my non #jessicajones TV and wanted to give a special shout out to my girl @melissabenoist ! I've been a big fan of hers since she first landed in LA. I met her early on when I was casting a show that I was producing and it was clear even then, fresh off the boat, that she was poised to be a big star. I'm so proud and happy for her for landing a part that she totally shines in. Funny, strong, adorable, and radiant! Congrats fellow superhero lady! Much love!
So let's all pour a drink in celebration of Melissa Benoist and her work on Supergirl! Maybe someday Marvel and DC can set their differences aside and work together. Probably not, but we can hope.
Don't you just love a good crossover?
CBS's 'Supergirl' airs on Mondays at 8/7c.
