(Note:Possible spoilers for Captain America Civil War lies ahead)

With the Captain America: Civil War trailer released a week ago and got 61million views in 24 hours and broke the record of most viewed Marvel trailer. Fans are super excited to see what's in store for the third installment of Captain America's Marvel franchise, with Robert Downey Jr making an appearance alongside Scarlet Johansson as Natasha Romanova AKA Black Widow, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man, Daniel Bruhl as Baron Heinrich Zemo, William Hurt as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (possibly Red Hulk too), Tom Holland as Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlett Witch, Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa AKA Black Panther, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow AKA Crossbones, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye and Martin Freeman's yet to be known role. The rest of the cast who are main characters include Chris Evans as Steve Rogers AKA Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes AKA Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson AKA Falcon and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter AKA Agent 13. Note that this is NOT an Avengers movie, it's a movie centered around Captain America.

Now a friend of ours here at MoviePilot has a somewhat interesting evident that may hint towards the death Steve Rogers AKA Captain America. Our MoviePilot friend Liam Dixon posted an article about the death of Captain America in Civil War. If you haven't yet read the article click here. I am in with this, what he stated was that in the Captain America Civil War trailer you can see at the 1:59 mark. As Bucky grabs Tony by his chest (or arc reactor) he says something which led Liam to uncover it as...

Steve is dead

But that is what he reads Bucky's lips saying, what Bucky's actually saying is

Steve's dead

and not Steve is dead.

Captain America might fake his death in Civil War

In the comics the Civil War was caused by the supervillain Nitro when he and his group was invaded by The New Warriors which led Nitro using his powers to blow up Stamford, Connecticut. Resulting in the death of over 600 people in the city and 60 of whom were children. This led the government to raise a superhero registration act. In which all heroes must turn in to the government and reveal their identity. The government had the help of Tony Stark with Reed Richards and Henry "Hank" Pym. Captain America however was against that. In the end, Captain America was assassinated by Crossbones and Sharon Carter (whom at the time was hypnotised by Dr Faustus).

It was then revealed that the gun used to assassinate Steve Rogers didn't not kill him, but took his mind and (possibly) soul to another reality where he is stuck within time and space. In Captain America: Reborn Sharon Carter teamed up with the Avengers to bring back Steve Rogers. When Sharon Carter was captured by Dr Doom she was taken to Latveria and hooked up to a machine that would give Red Skull, Captain America's body. Red Skull had control of Captain America's body but in the other reality he was fighting Steve Rogers and in the end, Steve returns to his body and is reborn.

There is a reason I have to think that Steve Rogers will fake his own death in Captain America: Civil War. Since Red Skull is long dead and Dr Faustus hasn't yet been introduced in the MCU. Remember when the Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony Russo revealed the most important part of Captain America: Civil War? If you haven't read about that yet then click here. The Russo bros revealed that...

"The theme of the movie is betrayal and it’s a very powerful theme. The movie’s extremely emotional. It hinges on that emotion, and on a very personal level we didn’t want the movie to become about politics and people arguing about platitudes."

With that being said, Captain America is going to betray the team by faking his death.

Why would he fake his death?

Well basically he would want the world to think he's dead and even the government, so that they wouldn't hunt him down. He doesn't want Tony to think he's alive and he doesn't want the world or The Avengers to think he's alive. This time he might just keep it between him, Falcon and Bucky Barnes and not tell Natasha Romanov about his fake death. This isn't the first time Marvel has faked someone's death. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel faked the death of Nick Fury and revealed he was still alive but hiding. Like I said, with the Russo bros saying how the theme of the movie is betrayal and how powerful the theme is, that might just prove my point, Steve Rogers keeps his team in the dark about him being dead. Besides, they wouldn't want to kill off a fan favorite now do they? And besides once he's dead, how will we bring him back for Avengers: Infinity Wars? The Avengers still need a leader. Also Chris Evans did talk about renewing his Marvel contract for how many more Marvel movies.

With all the evidence that led up to the theory where Captain America might fake his own death, from Bucky saying "Steve's dead", to his death in the comics and reborn, to the theme of the movie which is betrayal, to the point where this won't be the first time Marvel has faked someone's death and finally to the point where Chris Evans wants to renew his Marvel contract. But before I finish lets take a one last look at the Captain America Civil War posters first.
