As you may or may not have heard, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has officially been announced as the Big Bad of The Walking Dead, and just incase anyone had any doubts about whether or not the actor was the right fit for the role, a video has surfaced of him explaining his delight at being cast.
Speaking at Supernatural PasCon in Pasadena, California on Sunday 15th November, Morgan answered one of the first, of what will no doubt be many, questions about his upcoming role in the series. Audience member Jill asked if Morgan would be willing to share any feelings he had about taking on the role as Negan, and let me tell you, share he did:
"Ya'll know about Negan? Me too. It's why I did it...
When my agent/manager called they said, ‘You’ve been offered this thing on The Walking Dead…it’s to play this big bad.’ At the time, they didn’t know the character’s name, because I think it was supposed to be a secret. And I’m like, ‘Is it f–king Negan?’ And they’re like, ‘I don’t know, we’re going to have to call you back, hold on a second.’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s f–king Negan. And I’m f–king doing it.’"
Hell yes! That's exactly the response Walking Dead fans have been wanting to hear. Morgan also explained how he was excited to take on the role of a villain, given that he so often plays "the sort of good guy." He also mentions that he's looking forward to the challenge of seeing whether there's "any heart in Negan."
Looks like we'll also be seeing him sooner than we thought...
