We all know that the next movie lined up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has Captain America's all over it with Captain America: Civil War, we can almost every single character that Marvel has conjured and some that are new to the roster. But there is one exception to this list of superheroes, The Hulk.
The screenwriters of the upcoming film say that we won't be seeing Hulk around is because he can't really be in the film. Why you ask? According the brilliant screenwriters, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, whatever side Hulk chooses, it's a win for that team. Within the MCU, we see Hulk tear and destroy anything that has been down his path and if that included the Avengers, who knows what will happen.
When Markus and McFeely were speaking recently with Entertainment Weekly, Markus said:
“You put those guys in a fight, it’s over quickly. It’s like, ‘Well, we have the Hulk on our side.’ Oh, fine, then,”
If this reminds anyone of Harry Potter then it's like a game of quidditch because we all know that once you catch the snitch, it's game over. So if Hulk was going to be on either side, then everyone can just forget it all ever happened and go home. Markus adds that choosing the roster depended on the type of fight you want to have between Cap and Iron Man. So, no single-sided blood bathes here.
This could almost work for a subplot for Bruce Banner if he was going to be in the movie. Imagine, Banner having to choose between Captain American and Iron Man, both knowing that Banner is trying to keep Hulk locked away. If we can all remember from the Avengers, it doesn't matter if you have an army (Loki) but Hulk will just equal that army. Alas, for now, we will hopefully be seeing Bruce Banner make an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok which is slated for release in 2017.
Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016
