Zoom, the 'big bad' of The Flash Season 2, has already put the big bad of Season 1, the Reverse Flash, to complete shame. The Reverse Flash was an immensely satisfying villain, but Zoom is stronger, scarier, and more evil. But who is the man (or woman) behind the Zoom mask? In my quest to find out who he is, I have gathered a list of every single Zoom suspect that has shown up in every theory people have made, and ranking them from least likeliness to greatest.

Francine West

Why she IS Zoom

She appeared out of nowhere all of a sudden wanting to be apart of Iris and Joe's life. That's all I got, really.

Why she ISN'T Zoom

Sheer logic. I mean look at Zoom. He is clearly male, evidenced by Harrison Wells referring to him as a he and Zoom himself stating that he is the fastest man alive. Also, would the writers really risk angering so many people and potentially sabotaging the show's fantastic reputation? I don't think so.

Wally West

Why he IS Zoom

Wally is a speedster and has the Speedforce within him.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

We haven't met Wally yet, and it would be really lame to have him as Zoom at this point. Also, look at Zoom's physique! He's much, much bigger then Wally.

Cisco Ramon

Why he IS Zoom

Cisco made the Flash suit, and Zoom's suit is basically a recolor of the Flash suit. Also, Harrison Wells took an almost immediate disliking towards Cisco, which would make sense if Cisco's alter-ego was Zoom.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Zoom is much, much bigger in size than Cisco. Also, Cisco already has superpowers, so Earth-2 Cisco would likely have the same powers if any.

Ok, now here's where the theories go from completely implausible, to somewhat plausible.

Harrison Wells

Why he IS Zoom

There is clearly more to Earth-2 Harrison Wells than what meets the eye, and he was a fantastic villain last year, so why not have him be the villain again?

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Multiple reasons. One, it really wouldn't make sense for Wells to kidnap his daughter on Earth-2, come to Earth-1, go back and yell at her, then go back, beat up Barry, then somehow show up in the same room as himself. Two, Wells's physical traits do not match with Zoom's at all. Three, do you really think that the writers would have the same villain two times in a row? C'mon, give the writers some credit!

Ronnie Raymond

Why he IS Zoom

Having Ronnie as the villain would almost certainly lead into the Killer Frost storyline, and surely would generate drama.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

We've already had Ronnie as a villain-esque character when he first was Firestorm. Also, there's always the fact that Ronnie and Zoom don't look anything alike in terms of physical traits.

Eobard Thawne

Why he IS Zoom

Matt Letscher's Eobard Thawne was never really established as a true villain, so what better way to give him a proper go at the villain role than have him as Zoom? Also, in the comics Eobard Thawne calls himself Professor Zoom.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

It doesn't make sense that the show would bring back a character we barley got to know and have him as Zoom. There's also the fact that he was the villain last season, even if it wasn't his face under the mask.

Jay Garrick

Why he IS Zoom

He just so happens to be gone when Zoom's around, and the only time we see the two together is from Jay's point of view. Hmmm...

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Jay's the original Flash, and making him a villain would be an outrage. Also, Harrison Wells, who clearly knows who Zoom is, would tell the others if Jay was Zoom.

Joe West

Why he IS Zoom

He's Barry's adoptive father, and would create massive emotional drama if his alter-ego was indeed Zoom.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Jay and Harrison would've had a much larger reaction to Joe if he was Zoom on Earth-2. Also, Joe is, well, too meaty to be Zoom.

Now, finally, let's get into some real contenders for Zoom.

Hunter Zolomon

Why he IS Zoom

He's Zoom in the comics, and as last season showed with Eobard Thawne, the show can remain faithful to the comics and still have a familiar face underneath. Plus, Zoom in the comics is enemies with Wally West, so it would make sense that they'd introduce Wally at this point.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

I'm not entirely convinced that they'd introduce a whole new character at this point, even though Season 1 did.

Edward Clariss

Why he IS Zoom

Edward Clariss is the original Reverse Flash, the Rival, and is Jay Garrick's arch enemy. Also, he gives off the same blue lightning that Zoom gives off when he runs.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Same reasons as Hunter Zolomon.

Eddie Thawne

Why he IS Zoom

There's always been Eddie's suspicious name, and Eddie's favorite color is blue, and Zoom gives off blue lightning when he runs. In addition to that, once his body was swept up into the singularity, he could've blamed Barry for his death or just wants to kill all speedsters because of the damage that the Reverse Flash did.

Why he ISN'T Zoom

The actor who plays Eddie is a regular on another show, so it would be hard to have Eddie as Zoom.

Barry Allen

Why he IS Zoom

The beauty of multiple earths is that this kind of thing can happen, so why wouldn't the writers take advantage of this and have Barry be Zoom? It would also generate drama, open up several storylines, and it would be pretty damn cool to see Barry fighting Barry. Plus, in the New 52, a future Barry sporting a costume that deeply resembles Zoom's came back to kill his past self. Perhaps CW would like to adapt this in the show?

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Zoom is much bulkier than Barry. That's all I got.

Henry Allen

Why he IS Zoom

Henry Allen being written off The Flash (apart from his appearance in 'Grodd Lives' which suspiciously takes place right after Zoom makes his first appearance) kind of came out of nowhere, right? But what if this was so we wouldn't consider Henry a Zoom suspect? Plus, Zoom and Henry have identical eyes, shoulders, and body shape. In addition to all that, Henry being Zoom would be extremely interesting to see, as Barry would have to fight a man who looks exactly like his loving father. (And maybe all he has left of his father, if Zoom has killed Earth-1 Henry Allen)

Why he ISN'T Zoom

Honestly, I got nothing. Henry's definitely Zoom, no question.
