Almost exactly a year ago, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies came out. That movie concluded the Middle-Earth Saga (What I like to call the six Middle-Earth movies). Now their are two trilogies, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit, and Peter Jackson will probably not come back. But I think he should. There are many books by J.R.R. Tolkien set in Middle-Earth, but the thing I want wasn't even created by Tolkien, and wasn't even a book. It was actually a game, called Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
This game was and still is, the best game I have ever played. The main reason I love it so much, is the story. After Talion, a ranger of Gondor, his son, and his wife are killed by the Black Hand of Sauron, Talion is revived by Celebrimbor, an immensely powerful Wraith, and the two merged into one. Now the two seek revenge for who killed Talion's family, and if they kill him, it will weaken Sauron's grip upon Mordor. This game had an amazing story, and another great feature in the game, was the Nemesis System.
The Nemesis System were Uruk enemies that were generated in a different way with every playthrough. If you killed a certain Uruk, they may come back and want revenge for the scars Talion left. Each nemesis will grow stronger and stronger; they kill you, you kill them. They come back, and it can take as long as the whole game for them to actually die.
The reason this game would work as a TV show, is mainly because of how long it is. There are so many quests and side-quests, and story, that this one game would provide for a whole 22-episode season of TV.
The best place for this series would be HBO, where there are almost no limits. The game was very bloody and graphic, and almost too bloody and graphic for a normal TV station.
Season 1 of this series would follow Talion and Celebrimbor seeking vengeance for the death of Talion's family, being directly based off of the game. Now, unless they stretched the story out to be two seasons, the first two seasons could be based off the game. But what I would do, is get the people who came up with the story for the game (who are making a sequel) to make the story for Season 2. Or, by the time this show would even happen, they could just base it off of the sequel, which will likely be out before a TV series was ever made.
This is my idea for how the Middle-Earth Saga should continue. There are other possibilities, like movies about Tolkien's The Children of Hurin or The Silmarrilion. But this idea, at least in my head, is the best idea.
What do you think? Do you want to see the Middle-Earth Saga continue? Do you want to see Middle-Earth; Shadow of Mordor be a TV show? Have any other ideas? Please, let me know!
