Zoom makes his way back to Earth 1 and chases Harry around Star Labs. Once he catches him, he threatens to kill his daughter if he doesn't do what he was asked, and gives him a day. Joe and Iris talk at Jitters about what to get Barry for Christmas and Joe talks about the watch his grandfather gave him. Iris is reminded of Wally and leaves to go talk to Barry.Barry and Patty are at the lab sharing an intimate moment, when Iris walks in. Patty leaves the two talk and Iris tells Barry about Wally. He tells her that they will tell Joe together and watch as snow begins to fall. Mark Mardon shows up at Iron Heights to break out Snart and James Jesse. He takes them to an abandoned Okamura toy warehouse and asks them to team up to kill the Flash. The team continues to work back Star Labs and Harry shows up. Cisco asks him if he is okay and he says yes. Barry and Iris talk to Joe about his son Wally. Joe is crushed learning that his son grew up without him and takes some time to himself to process it. Barry and Iris go back to the house and find Snart waiting for them. He tells Barry of Mardon and Jesse's plan to kill him. He says he wants no part of it and leaves wishing him a Merry Christmas. Joe talks to Barry at Star Labs and breaks down at the fact that he did not try hard enough to help Francine. He also feels like a failure in not raising his son.Barry tells him it is not his fault and that he was protecting Iris. Patty is following more leads to catch Mardon when a broadcast of Jesse plays. He tells the people of Central City that he wants the Flash dead and the team quickly tries to trace him. Jay points out a reflection of something in his eyes and Harry says that it is Mr. Jiggle Wiggle, manufactured by Okamura Toys, and Barry heads to an old abandoned warehouse. Patty gets there before him and they realize it was trap as driedels fitted with C4 surround them.Barry is able to save them both by flying out of the warehouse using his superspeed to propel them upwards. He tries to convince Patty to not kill Mardon, but her mind is made up. She feels responsible for her father's death and thinks that killing Mardon will rid her of the pain. Barry heads back to Star labs and they make a plan to stop Mardon using a "Weather Wand". Barry reveals that he knows about it already because they had done it in an alternate timeline. Meanwhile Jesse is handing out presents to children that contain bombs.Zoom shows up through the breach at Star Labs and reminds Wells that he only has a bit of time left to do what he asked him. The team builds the wand and Barry goes to confront the Rogues who are at a festival in the city. Barry chases Mardon around the city and is able to hit him with the wand, but Mardon tells him of the bombs. He tells Barry to sacrifice himself in exchange for the lives of all the innocent people in the city. Seemingly with no way out, Barry lets Mardon batter him.Harry finds a way to take out all the bombs and they head out to save Barry. Wells, Cisco, and Jay find one of the bombs and alter its magnetic polarity; they send it into one of the dimensional breaches, which causes it to attract the remaining bombs, removing them from the city. With them gone, Barry subdues Mardon and Jesse. Patty arrives ready to kill Mardon, but Barry talks her out of it.
I was expecting less action in this episode and more of a story, but they balanced both very well. They were also able to fit in a lot of characters but it wasn't cluttered. They are definitely having Barry achieve some awesome feats and the effects are on point.
Wally West: Joe and Francine's son, who grew up without his father. He shows up at the end of the episode and is shown to be well mannered and shy. We can not wait to see how he gets his abilities and to see him start working with the Flash!
Team Flash- They saved the city from danger just in time for them to celebrate Christmas together. After all that's happened in the last year, I think they deserve a little break.
Rogues- So we get half of the team, but then one of them bails, leaving Mardon and Jesse. Anytime Mark Hamill graces the screen, it's always amazing and Mardon is a badass. Good for Snart turning the other cheek though.
Barry and Patty-Absolutely adorable. They have finally made Parry official and we can not be more happy. I just hope they can last through whatever comes to them next. Barry saved her as both himself and the Flash, so you can see that he really cares for her. You made the right choice Patty.
Barry and Iris- He did not let Iris face Joe alone and that's what makes Barry such a great guy. Despite having problem of his on whether it's chasing bad guys or his personal life, he still makes time to help people in anyway he can.
Barry and Joe- Barry reminded Joe that he was a good father to him and that he would do the same for Wally. Then we have the touching moment when he gives Barry the watch that belonged to his grandfather. Who put these damn onions here.
Barry and Snart- Barry could have just run him back to Iron Heights and Snart could have just let the Rogues blindside Barry, but they didn't. As much as they want to deny it, these two are best buds for life. Snart wished him a Merry Christmas before he left and Barry should have done the same.
Harry and Zoom- It seems like every version of Wells is doomed to have some sort of tragic life in whatever Earth he's in. I wish we get to see one where he is happy and supervillains aren't screwing up his life. You really feel for the guy in this episode. You can tell he cares about his new team, but he can't risk his daughter's life. Zoom you cruel, cool, bastard.
Harry and Jesse- One second she's there, the next she's gone and there was nothing Harry could do about it. I hope that she is reunited with her father soon because that was hard to watch. What a way to celebrate Christmas.
Jay and Caitlin- These two are adorable as well. Cisco called it and they kissed by the time the episode came to a close. It was about time. In Cisco's words,"The thirst is real. Can you two just make out." Also,"What's mistletoe?" Smooth one Jay.
Iris and Joe- Finally the truth comes out and the feels came in. How does one react to the fact that you have a son you never knew about and you pushed away your dying ex wife who tried to tell you. Iris and Joe have already been through a lot, and now this happens.
Wally and Joe- Father and son finally meet and it felt like a lifetime movie. A really good one though. Everyone is surprised to see him and Joe invites his son in to spend time with them all. They definitely have a lot to talk about.
Barry and Wells- Another powerful scene, with Barry using Harry as a stand in for Wells. He tells him that he no longer wants to carry this hate in his heart that he has for him. That he forgives him for everything. Then he invites Harry to come and spend Christmas with everyone.
Okamura- This is the name of the warehouse that produced the Mr. Jiggle Wiggle, which went out of business. In the comics Hiro Okamura is a teenage mechanical genius Japan (one of the Toyman) who was an ally to Superman and Batman supplying them with tech.
Weather Wand- We've already seen Barry use this against Mardon, but seeing Mardon use it was a shout out to the comics. The New 52 version of him uses a wand along with his powers.
What's to Come/Theories:
With the introduction of Wally West and Harry's new mission to help Zoom steal the Flash's speed, we will have to see if we are going to get another speedster on Barry's side. With Jay taking some of the Velocity 6 formula and showing that it works temporarily, will we see it come to play with Wally? How will he get his abilities and follow in the footsteps of Barry? In the previews for what's to come on the show, we see Patty in danger and Zoom shows up. Barry was just about to tell Patty his secret, but will it be too late?! No, say it ain't so! We are also waiting to see who it is under the mask, after months of theorizing.
We got more Team Flash, Zoom, half of the Rogues, blossoming relationships, and the introduction of Wally in this Christmas themed mid season finale. The show has done pretty well for this first half of the second season and we can not wait to see where the story goes from here. See you all in the next part of the season! What did you think about this episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them! The Flash returns January 19th, 2016!
