Another year nearly done with, and another brilliant PlayStation Experience over with. And what an experience it was this year, what with reveals of Final Fantasy VII Remake's stunning gameplay and a closer look at what Sony has in store for their PlayStation VR peripheral (that'll be coming in a later article).
But with such an expansive show comes information slipping through the gaps, which is where this article comes in! Come in, kick back and come with me on a recap through 7 of the most badass reveals and nuggets of news to come out of Sony's keynote:
7 Top Moments From PSX 2015
1. New 'Dark Souls 3' Footage!
Coming hot on the heels of From Software's announcement that Dark Souls 3 will be getting two awesome but pricey collector's editions, the devs have released a video showing off 4 minutes of tense gameplay, new enemies and a devastatingly massive and leafy boss that even LotR's Treebeard would excrete a slither of sap over! In fear, obviously.
2. New 'Ratchet & Clank' Has A Trailer And Release Date!
Insomniac Games's new interpretation of the seminal Ratchet & Clank series is gearing itself up for a release on April 12, 2016, and is shaping up to be a well deserved return to form. The adventure game will take heavy cues from the animated R&C movie, which coincidentally releases two weeks after the game on April 29!
In case you're worried about resolution, the game will run at 1080p/30fps and won't be releasing at your a-typically premium price. The game will be available to purchase at around $30/40. Thanks, Insomniac & SCEA!
3. 'Final Fantasy VII's' PC Port Has Hit PlayStation Store!
I think it's safe to say that the debut footage of Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 remake was pretty darn awesome! Good to see the essential entry to the franchise's epic lore get a loving retouch. But with no word as to when the remake will be slipping into consoles, we'll have to make do with replaying the original version which has re-released on PS4!
The game normally retails at $16, but is discounted at $10 till December 12. So move sharpish!
4. Another New Challenger Approaches 'Street Fighter V'!
Capcom took to the stage to announce the last of the launch characters for their PS4 exclusive brawler, and he's shaping up to be a (understatement alert) rather interesting combatant.
Named F.A.N.G., he's second in command of M. Bison's Shadaloo organization, and is one odd looking mofo with a very unique skill-set that contains a series first combat mechanic: poison.
In Capcom's words, F.A.N.G. is "an assassin whose unique poison attacks leave him second only to M. Bison himself."
In other Street Fighter news, Capcom has released the 6 characters that will be available immediately via the season pass.
Though if you're not down with the idea of shelling out more money, for an already expensive product, in order to get perks and characters that should already be included in the vanilla release, you can also unlock these characters through... playing the game!
Street Fighter 5 releases February 16.
5. Sparrow Racing Comes To 'Destiny'!
Ask and ye shall receive, gamers, because Sparrow racing is finally coming to the divisive multiplayer shooter. Bungie announced that the competitive Sparrow Racing League will be live from December 8th to the 29th, and it'll be free for all of you who have The Taken King.
6. Ni-Oh Finally Has New Footage!
Originally planned as a launch title for the PlayStation 3, Team Ninja's epic Samurai slasher Ni-Oh has some blood-soaked footage to get your fingers twitching.
Based on an unfinished script by legendary Japanese movie director Akira Kurosawa, Ni-Oh follows a white haired, half-Japanese samurai (who looks like he's stepped straight out of The Witcher), as he flips and gambols his way out of the clutches of enemies both of the human and not so human variety.
If you like your 3rd person adventure games a bit like Dark Souls with a dashing of Onimusha and on a bed of Ninja Gaiden, you'll be in luck when this releases at... erm... some point next year.
7. Yakuza 0 Is Coming To North American Shores!
In a wonderfully unforeseen move, the prequel to SEGA's seminal Yakuza franchise will be washing up on the shores of NA next year! Though, unfortunately, it looks like Europe will left behind in its wake.
Here's the trailer for the game:
