May the Force be with you, but may the fat just leave you the heck alone. At least, that would appear to be the sentiment from the original Star Wars actors.
We already know that Carrie Fisher put in a lot of time to lose around 35 pounds to reprise her role as General (Princess) Leia. The 59-year-old actress has been very open about her struggle to slim down. But, as you may already know, there is another main character who has been going through a similar battle: her Star Wars sibling, Mark Hamill.
According to the most recent issue of Rolling Stone, 64-year-old Mark Hamill was also asked to lose a little weight to slip back into Luke Skywalker's tunic. In the interview he discussed the lifestyle changes that have helped him to lose over 50 pounds. He told the magazine:
"I'm on the 'if it tastes good, don't eat it' diet."
While he does look great and much healthier, Hamill isn't looking for compliments or high praise for his weight loss.
"It implies that I looked so dreadful before! Look at what I'm eating now instead of potato chips and bagels."
Fair enough! Fruits and vegetables plates – which he was referring to during the interview – have a time and a place. But to a Jedi Master like Mark Hamill, they're no comparison to some oily, carbohydrate-filled goodness.
No matter their fitness and health regimes, it sounds as if all of the original cast members are grateful to be a part of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and we're more than happy to welcome them back to the galaxy.
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will be released in theaters starting December 18.
