'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' fans finally know when it's safe to leave the theater, and it's not when you would expect!
Well, this might be one of the biggest spoilers to come out about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the usually secretive director J.J. Abrams revealed it himself! Since the announcement of the film, fans have speculated about whether or not there would be a clue or teaser for the Force Awakens sequel in the form of a post-credits scene after the film. Post-credit scenes are widely popular in the sci-fi film genre, with blockbusters like The Avengers and even The Hunger Games teasing their sequels or related films after the credits roll, and last about 60 seconds. What they reveal leaves fandoms in a hysteria of theories over Easter eggs and hints as to what may come. So it's no surprise that fans would be expecting even a short Star Wars: The Force Awakens post-credits teaser in regular sci-fi film fashion.
So what does J.J. Abrams have to say to anxious fans around the world afraid to leave the theater before the credits end? At a top secret press day for The Force Awakens, J.J. Abrams finally confirmed what exactly happens after the credits will roll, and it's a bit of a shocker!
When asked if there will be an extra scene after the credits, Abrams answered:
"No, there's not."
Not going to lie, I totally expected there to be a post-credits scene, even just a small one or title tease for the next film! Yet in usual J.J. Abrams style, anything involving Disney's new Star Wars film and it's impending sequels are kept tightly under wraps! Well, at least we know now that we don't have to sit and watch the credits roll for 20 minutes before we can leave. Although, let's be real, I'm totally going to anyway because most likely I'll be paralyzed from the pure amazingness I just witnessed on screen.
Some other fun tidbits learned at the secret 'Star Wars' press day:
