(Warning - the following may contain very mild costume-related SPOILERS for next year's Doctor Strange. Proceed with as much caution as your innate sense of SPOILER-aversion suggests is wise...)
Now, as things stand, Doctor Strange – Marvel's premier magic-user and 2016 solo movie debutant – isn't on the receiving end of all that much buzz. Sure, glimpses of Benedict Cumberbatch on set are exciting to us devoted fans and all, but for the majority of the film-going public, the hero's debut movie isn't even on their radar yet. Which, seeing as it isn't set to hit theaters till November next year, kind of makes sense.
It's hard not to get the feeling, however, that as soon as the cultural behemoth that is Star Wars Episode VII arrives, a little more attention might just find its way to the good doctor – and it seems he could be more than ready for it.
The Latest 'Doctor Strange' Concept Art Teases an Incredibly Authentic Take on the Character
That's right: that there image is an official piece of Marvel Studios concept art.
Which, seeing as it looks remarkably exactly like the Doctor Strange we know and love from the comic books, is definitely one of those 'very good things' we hear so little about these days.
The big question now, though?
Will the Doctor Strange We See in the Final Movie Actually Look Like That?
After all, with the artwork having originally been shown at this past year's D23 Expo (though it wasn't officially released at the time), it's entirely possible that plans for the character have changed. That being said, with our first look at the image coming straight from the recently released Marvel Phase Two Box Set...
...it seems likely that what we're seeing is at least going to be heavily influential on the final on-screen version.
Which, since it's super-faithful to the comic book version, is fantastic news.
What do you think, though?
