Harry Potter fans of the West Coast, rejoice! For months we've known that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter would soon be on our side of the continent, but we still didn't know exactly when our unofficial Hogwarts letters would be arriving. That is, until this morning.

Today, it was officially announced by Universal Studios that the magical theme park would officially be opening its doors on...

April 7, 2016!

The studio enlisted the help of a real-life Hogwarts alumna Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), who used a bit of magic to help make the announcement feel all the more special.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter promises guests an authentic Hogsmeade village with familiar shops including Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Three Broomsticks, Hog's Head pub and more. The park will also include the family-friendly outdoor roller coaster The Flight of the Hippogriff.

Here's a bit more from the official press release outlining what park attendees can expect to see:

More than five years in the making, and inspired by J.K. Rowling’s compelling stories and characters that were brought to life in the Warner Bros. films, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is being masterfully recreated with impeccable detail as a real-world interpretation at Universal Studios Hollywood. The land will be faithful to the visual landscape of the fiction and films, including Hogwarts castle which will serve as its iconic focal point.
From its snow-capped roofs and cobblestone streets to the historic British sensibilities that characterize the whimsical look and feel of the land, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will transport guests of all ages to the very places they read about in the stories or watched on the silver screen.

Universal Studios also released their first commercial for the park that will make you feel like you are a first-year student riding a boat across the Black Lake and getting your very first glimpse at Hogwarts.

Now the only thing left for us to do is purchase our annual passes and wait patiently for the park to actually open on April 7, 2016. Any chance we can find a reverse Time Turner that can take us four months into the future?
