Its time we go to the first story in the prequel trilogy with 1999's Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Now before you all start yelling at me and saying that praising anything about this movie is a sin against the Star Wars community, I will fully acknowledge that this movie is not great but I can definitely say its not the worst movie ever made like so many make it out to be, there is plenty of things to enjoy if you try to not compare it to the original trilogy so much. Now that I've said my piece, let's begin this list.

5. The Burning of Qui-Gon Jinn

Originally I was going to put the ending celebration on this slot but then I remembered this scene which I find to be much more powerful with its lack of dialogue (except when Anakin and Obi-Wan talk), beautiful music by John Williams, and an interesting tribute to the burning scene from the Return of the Jedi. Just a nice scene, I like it.

4. The First Fight Scene

Not long after introducing us to our main heroes Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, we get some pretty kick-ass fighting between the Jedi and the droids. Now I know what some of you are probably saying: the fights are too choreographed and fast. I'll be honest, I prefer the way Jedi fight in the prequels. Nothing but love for the originals but come on, you can't deny the Jedi are awesome in these movies when they actually do stuff.

3. The Pod Race

I don't care what anybody says, I freaking loved the pod race! Tense, visually stunning, and Jake Lloyd doesn't talk. Triple combo! It's so awesome that we even got a sweet Nintendo 64 game based on it that I played the hell out of as a kid. Is it long? Yeah but I never got bored of it.

2. The Double Bladed Lightsaber

We had seen Maul appear a few times in the movie but we only saw him using one blade in only one scene. It seemed they were saving the best thing for the last act and they sure did. The doors open, the Jedi and the militia split up, and we see Maul take out and ignite possibly the most epic lightsaber yet.

Kylo's might come as a close second but I adore Maul's too much to put Kylo's above him.

1. Obi-Wan VS Darth Maul

While the fight between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon against Maul is all kinds of awesome, its when Obi-Wan unleashed a rage storm on Maul that I really love. They say a Jedi fighting with anger is going to lead him down the path of the Dark Side, well Obi-Wan just proved that wrong. Once again showing that he is the best Star Wars character so far.

So those are my best moments in the first prequel. Do you agree with these choices? Did you even have five best moments? Let me know in the comments below.
