You know those movies that just sort of stick with you, for whatever reason it may be. Maybe the score was amazing, or the special effect were revolutionary, or the cast was spot on. Well for whatever reason that is what this movie did to me. It really isn't anything special, to be honest, and yet I would recommend that literally everyone watch it.
This movie is about a high school student who blackmails his fellow classmates into contributing to his literary magazine that he was putting together to increase his chances to get into the college of his dreams.
Featuring Chris Colfer, Rebel Wilson, and Christina Hendricks, Stuck by Lightning definitely has its comedic moments that are full of sarcasm, it also has maintains a serious tone throughout the whole movie. The title comes from the reference made by the main character Carson, who is played by Chris Colfer, when he is explain why a life with meaning and goals is so important. Many students who live in this small town feel as though their lives are not going anywhere, whereas Carson refuses to become another loser of this town that he hates.
"Because a life without meaning, without drive, without focus, without goals or dreams isn't a life worth living. Life comes at you fast. It runs through your body and tries to escape and be expressed in any way possible. In a way, it's a lot like... lightning."
Another one of my favorite quotes from the movie is: "In what grade do we stop believing in ourselves? In what grade do we just stop believing, period? I mean, someone has to be a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Someone has to be a ballerina. Why not us? I can't be the only one that gets that. "
I don't want to give away the movie but I cry every time.
