It was another jolly holiday with the Mikaelsons, with Claire Holt returning as a guest star as the beautiful Rebekah, Freya trying to calm her down, and Hayley trying to spend time with her husband, Jackson, amidst all of their drama.
In the meantime, Klaus has been spending time with Cami, protecting her from whatever evils may come her way, as she is usually put in danger because of the Mikaelson family. They go to Detective Will Kinney and keep him from killing himself, before heading back to the compound in the midst of the family squabble.
The family does band together in the end and wonder how they are going to face the prophecy, with Elijah daggering Rebekah temporarily hoping that that would fulfill the "one fallen by family" end of the prophecy.
Before she left, however, she imparted some wisdom on Klaus asking him to allow himself to be loved, both looking over at Cami, his potential love interest.
Fans of the pairing, Klamille, got their Christmas wish when after an impassioned speech, Klaus finally kissed Cami. Presumably the two spent a long make out session together because they ended up in bed together.
When Klaus wakes up, however, he finds that Cami's throat has been slit and she lies, presumably lifeless in his arms.
Fans of the character, Leah and the pairing in general immediately started tweeting their worry and their disdain over losing such a key component to the pairing. However, it did bring to mind a photo that had shown up on Leah Pipes' Instagram, to be shortly deleted, presumably because of spoilers.
It is Leah, still on set, with a blue stoned ring. This was after the midseason finale had been filmed, and we all know that a ring with a blue stone means only one thing in the world of The Originals.... Cami has a daylight ring.
There have also been a few interviews circling, including one with Variety who spoke of her fate and when she was asked she did mention
This isn’t the last we’ve seen Leah Pipes grace the screen of this show. The question is what context we’ll see her again and just how tragic that will be.
After everything Klaus has done, and him not wanting her to become a vampire and wanting to keep her safe at all costs, this is one of the saddest fates that has come to the show, although it does leave a glimmer of hope for those fans of the actress as well as the character and pairing. While death is never an easy thing on a vampire show, there is always hope for life after it.
