Shia the performance artist strikes again.
It's not been long since Shia's last performance piece #ALLMYMOVIES happened, in which the actor sat through his entire back catalogue in a public movie theater with a camera trained on his face for the whole thing.
Now Shia is back and has gone to the city of Liverpool, England for his next project #TOUCHMYSOUL in the FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) gallery.
The project will go on for four days, having started on December 10th.
The project entails Shia and artistic collaborators Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkkö, with whom he has collaborated on previous projects, all sat around desks taking calls from random people. The aim is to touch their souls with what you say on the phone - no pressure, of course.
The number to call is +44 (0)151 808 0771, but prepare to wait a while.
There is also a live feed of the performance and if you happen to be in Liverpool, you can join the many people free to walk in and around the room while the installation is happening.
Whenever anyone on Twitter includes the hashtag '#touchmysoul', it comes up on a screen in the gallery.
On the website, you can also see a rather mysterious document which seems to be a partial transcription of the conversations being had on the phone.
Twitter is having quite a lot of fun with Shia's new project.
One guy, Sam Haysom, tried calling for 71 minutes and managed to get through to the artists twice. The first time, Shia introduced himself at the beginning, but nervous Sam probably misheard and asked whether it was Shia on the phone. The phone then cut off.
The second time, Sam managed to get a laughter reaction and an exclamation of "Try!", after Sam asked if he could touch Shia's soul.
So yeah, here's the phone number again. Give it a go and let us know if you have any success in the comments.
