We sat in the console room with Rose, laughing about memories past. Mickey and I stood in the doorway watching.
"And that big munchkin lady with the big eyes. Do your remember the way she looked at you? And then she opens her mouth and fire comes out."
"I thought I was gonna get frazzled!" Rose laughed.
"Yeah, one minute she's standing there, and the next minute. Rawr!"
"I don't even know why I'm here." Mickey said, so only I could here.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well, I came with them to be with Rose, and to see what's out there. But...they both constantly forget about me. They're too wrapped up in their amazing adventures to know I'm alive."
"Well, Mickey. Look where we are. We can go anywhere. Your place is out there somewhere. All you have to do is find it. I love Rose, but...I think she's holding you back." I told him. He nodded.
"But I love her." He whispered.
"I know. But have you ever heard that old saying? If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's yours. If not...then maybe it was never yours to begin with." He nodded.
"Is that what the Doctor thought when he left you?" He asked. I looked at him.
"What are you talking about?" He looked shocked at himself.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I meant when you got left behind." I nodded. Then all of a sudden, the TARDIS shook and we both ran to the controls.
"IT's the time vortex. It's completely gone! How can that be?!"
"We're gonna crash!" I yelled. The Doctor fell to the ground and I fell on top of him. "Is everyone alright? Rose? Mickey?"
"She's dead. The TARDIS is dead." The Doctor said sadly. I patted his back.
"You can fix it. Especially with two of you."
"There's nothing to fix. She's perished. The last TARDIS in the universe-extinct."
"We can get help."
"Well we've landed. We've got to be some where." Rose reasoned.
"We fell out of the time vortex. Into the void. We're in some sort of..." I trailed off.
"For lack of a better term."
"The silent realm...the lost dimension." He continued. Mickey opened the TARDIS door.
"Otherwise known as London." He laughed. We stepped out of the TARDIS. It certainly looked like London, but that isn't possible. "London,England Earth. Hold on." He grabbed a paper from the ground and unfolded it. Rose ran over to him. "First of February this year. Not exactly far flung is it?" Rose smiled brightly.
"So this is London?" The Doctor asked.
"Uh huh, just as we left it. Bang on."
"And that includes the zeppelins?" We turned to see multiple gigantic blimps floating through the air.
"What the heck?" Mickey asked.
"That's beautiful." Rose threw in.
"Ok, so it's London with a big international zeppelin festival."
"This isn't your world." I said.
"But the dates the same. Then it's parallel right? Am I right? Like a parallel earth with zeppelins? Am I right, I'm right arn't I?"
" You have to be. There's no other explanation."
"So, we're in..." Rose trailed off.
"Oh come on. You've seen it in films. A world that's alternative to are world. Where everything's the same but a little bit different,Like traffic lights are blue. Tony Blair never got elected-"
"And he's still alive." Rose said, looking at a poster.
"Who's he?" I asked the doctor. He opened his mouth to answer.
"A parallel world where my dad's still alive." She turned and walked away and we followed.
"Don't look at it Rose, don't even think about it. This isn't your world!" The Doctor told her.
"But he's my dad, and...he's real. He's a success. He was always planning these daft little schemes, Health food drinks and stuff. Everyone said they were useless. But he did it." The Doctor grabbed her by the arms and made her look at him.
"Rose if you ever trusted me, you'll listen to me now." She looked back at the sign. "Stop looking at it! Your father is dead. He died when you were six months old. That is not your Pete. That is a Pete. For all we know he's got his own Jackie, his own Rose, his own daughter who is someone else that's not you. You can't see him. not ever." Mickey put his hand on her shoulder.
The Doctor and I left Mickey with Rose and went into the TARDIS. Mickey came in a few minutes later.
"I told you to keep an eye on her."
"She'll be fine."
"Mickey, it's a parallel world! It's like a gingerbread house! All those temptations calling out!"
"And what, there's nothing out there to tempt me?"
"I don't know, I can't worry about everything. I just need to get this thing to work." He kicked the console and sat down.
"Did that help?" Mickey asked.
"Yes." He sat down in the jump seat.
"Did that hurt?"
"Yes." I laughed and kneeled down, massaging his foot through his shoe.
"We shouldn't be here. The TARDIS gets it's power from the universe, but not if it isn't the right one."
"But I've seen it in comics. People are jumping from one alternative universe to another."
"Not in in the real world. Our people made it that easy, but they died. And they took everything with them."
"Then how did we get here?" I sat down next to the doctor and sighed. He rubbed his face.
"I don't know, accident? We aren't even supposed to be here and now we're trapped." I looked around until I saw just the smallest beam of green light.
"What's that?" I asked. I lifted the grate and looked down into the hole. "It's a light! We've got power!" I climbed down inside and started pulling things out.
"Is it it enough to get us home?"
"Not yet. We need to charge it up." The Doctor explained. He was about to blow on it when I stopped him.
"Doctor, don't you dare." I said.
"It needs to be done."
"Not that way!" The Doctor gave Mickey a look and he tried to grab me. instead, I grabbed the light source and ran out of the TARDIS, charging it up myself.
"Katherine!" He yelled. I just stopped and turned around.
"I just gave away Ten years of my life, and it was worth every second." I told him. He shook his head.
"You shouldn't have done that."
"Doctor, your older then me and have less regenerations left." I told him. He shook his head. We walked back into the TARDIS where Mickey was waiting for us.
"It's going out. Is that ok?" He asked.
"It's on a recharging cycle. It'll loop around, power back up and be ready to take us home in.ooh, twenty four hours?" He estimated.
"So that gives us twenty four hours in a parallel world." Mickey realized.
"Shore leave. As long as we keep our heads down. Easy, No problem."
"Let's go and tell Rose." I said, bounding out of the Tardis. We walked down the block to where Rose was sitting.
"There you are! No applause, Katherine and I fixed it. Twenty Four hours and we're flying back to reality." I sat up on the back of the bench with Rose, while the Doctor leaned against my legs and Mickey sat on the other side. She just looked off into space. He sighed. "What is it?"
"My phone connected. There's this, Cybus network and it finds your phone. It gave me internet access."
"Rose, whatever it says this is the wrong world." The Doctor told her.
"I don't exist." I put an arm around her.
"What do you mean?"
"There's no Rose Tyler. I was never born. There's Pete, my dad, and Jackie. He's still married to mum, but they never had kids."
"Give me that phone." He tried to take it from her hands but she wouldn't give it to him.
"Their Rich. They've got Money and cars. Everything they want. But they haven't got me." She got up. The Doctor looked at me. I got up and hugged Rose. "I've got to see him." I pulled back.
"Rose you can't." I told her.
"I just want to see him!"
"We can't let you!"
"You just said Twenty four hours."
"You can't just become their daughter, that's not how it works. Mickey, tell her."
"Twenty four hours, yeah?" Mickey went one way and Rose went the other.
"Where are you going?" The doctor yelled at him.
"I can do what ever I want."
"I've got the address and everything." Rose said.
"No, guys come back!" I yelled.
"I just want to see him!"
'And I've got things to see myself."
"Like what?" The Doctor asked.
"You don't know a thing about me, do you? It's all about Rose. I'm a spare part, even Katherine is a spare part. At least she's taken the time to talk to me."
"I'm sorry I've got to go."
"Go on then. There's not really a choice. You can't chase after both of us. Katherine, you can come with me if you want." I turned to the Doctor. I'll calm him down. You go after her. And when we get back, just talk to him. I thought.
Ok, just be careful.
When am I not careful? We'll meet back at the TARDIS. I turned and fell into step with Mickey.
"Your not going to stop me you know." He said.
"I know." I said. "So, where are we off to?"
"I told you about my gran right?" He asked.
"Well, she died about five years ago, fell down the stairs. I figure, parallel universe, she might be alive." I nodded.
Mickey hit the Knocker against the door.
"Who's that there?" A voice called. An elderly blind woman opened the door. "I know your there. Shame on you, tricking an old lady. I've got nothing worth stealing, and don't think I'm going to disappear. Your not gonna take me."
"Hi." He said.
"Is that you?"
"It's me, I came home."
"Rickey?" She touched his head.
"I know my own grandson's name. It's Rickey. Now come here." Before she hugged him she accidentally brushed against my hair. "Kathy's Here? Why didn't you say your girlfriend came with you?"
"Oh n-" I started.
"Guess It just slipped my mind" I looked at him. He shrugged. She slapped Mickey.
"You stupid boy."
"Ow! Stop hitting me."
"Where have you been? It's been days and days. I've been hearing stories, of people disappearing off the streets. There's nothing official on the download, but there's all these rumors and whispers. I thought they'd gone and disappeared you."
"That carpet on the stairs. I told you to get that fixed. Your gonna...fall and break your neck."
"Well, you get it fixed for me."
"I should have done. Way back."
"We'll try to get it fixed for you." I said politely.
"Oh, you were always my favorite, Kathy. Not like those other friends of his."
"What friends are they?"
"You know, driving around in that van all helter shelter."
"What van's that?"
"Don't pretend you don't know." That's when a blue van pulled up and pulled us inside before speeding away.
"Rickey, Kathy, you were the ones who told us that you don't contact your families. It puts them in danger."
"Yeah, sorry. He just had to see her." I said, playing along.
"I saw them. I taped them! Gathering up the homeless like the child catcher. They must've took four dozen."
"The vans were for a company called 'International Electromatics.' " The woman driving told us.
"But, let me guess. That's a dummy company?" I asked.
"Yes indeed. Created by guess who?" I thought back to Rose's phone.
"Oh, I'll tell you Kathy. We've got them now! Bad news is, they've arrested thin Jimmy, so that just leaves you, Rickey."
"Leaves me what?"
"Number one, top of the list, London's most wanted."
"Cool, congratulations Rickey." I said. I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. So, in this world, I'm Kathy and Rickey is my boyfriend. Weird.
It was night time now, and we pulled up to an old, abandoned looking building. We need to get back to the TARDIS soon. We have learned that their names are Jake and Mrs. Moore, as they call her.
"There's a light on. Mrs. Moore, we've got visitors." Jake said as we climbed out. We ran into the room, Jake's gun raised. I couldn't see but I heard a too familiar voice.
"What the heck are you doing?"
"It's only us." Oh crap...that voice is...
"What are you two doing here?" Jake asked.
"What are we doing here?" Kathy asked. "What are we doing there?" Suddenly the guns where in our faces.
I now sat sat tied up in a chair while they scanned me. They took my clothing, but let me keep on my tank top and shorts.
"They're clean. No bugs." Jake said.
"But this is off the scale." Rickey said.
"They're flesh and blood. How did that happen?" Kathy asked.
"Well it could be that Cybus industries perfected the science of human cloning. Or your father had a bike."
"And your names are Mickey and Katherine, not Rickey and Kathy?" Rickey asked.
"Yes, and we're not dating." I said.
"Mickey. Dad was Jackson Smith. Used to work at the key cutter's in Cliffton's Parade. Went to Spain Never came back."
"But that's my dad. So, we're brothers?"
"Come on, Rick. What are the chances that both of us had twin siblings. Something else is going on here." Kathy said.
"Update from Gemini. The vans are moving out near Battersea. Gemini was right. Lumic is making a move."
"And so are we, come on, we're leaving." They gave us clothing, so if your were a stranger you couldn't tell us apart and we sat in the back of the van with Jake and Mrs. Moore. Mickey looked terrified.
We spied on the target house. It was Pete Tyler's. That's where Rose and The Doctor are. That's when the truck opened and they started coming out.
"What the heck are they?" Rickey asked.
"Oh my gosh..."I said.
"Cybermen." That's when I saw them. The Doctor and Rose running. Jake, Rickey, and Kathy ran towards them with their guns.
"Get behind us!" Kathy yelled. I watched as Rose hugged Rickey. The Doctor looked confusedly at Kathy. I got out of the van and ran to them.
"Guys!" I called. "Meet Rickey, Kathy, and Jake." I said.
"Oh as if things weren't bad enough. Two Mickey's."
"But there's more of them." Mickey told them.
"We're surrounded." Rickey and Jake raised the guns.
"Put the guns down. Bullets won't stop them." Jake started shooting and I pused his gun down.
"No!" I yelled. "We surrender! Hands up! There is no need to harm us. We are good stock. We volunteer for you upgrade program."
"You are Rouge elements."
"But we surrender." I said.
"You are incompatible. You will be deleted. Man will be reborn into cybermen. But you will perish under maximum deletion. Delete! Delete! Delete! Delete!"
