Not too long ago it was announced that Zack Snyder is trying to develop a TV series on HBO based around the Watchmen. While I think this is a great idea, I think it would be stupid to reboot the project.
Everyone is expecting to see a new version of the Watchmen, but I think the new series should be a prequel to the movie. It would be very hard to get big actors like Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan to come back and be main stars on a TV show, but if they did, this show would be awesome!
I would rather have the series be apart of the universe that the movie created than a whole new one. Especially since they would have to recast Rorschach, who was played by Jackie Earle Haley, and is one of best comic book performances I have ever seen. Also, if it was a reboot, then Zack Snyder, who is developing the series, would be scrapping the movie he directed.
The series would follow the Watchmen on their crime-fighting adventures, fighting villains like Moloch, Big Figure, Sin Queen, and new ones created for the show. Some episodes could be centered around a certain character: like one about Rorschach and his past, the next about The Comedian and his past, and the next about Silk Spectre. Some episodes could have flashbacks, or entire episodes could be flashbacks about the Minutemen and their members. Maybe it could actually tell us the truth about what happened to Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice.
That was my opinion. I think that the new Watchmen TV series being developed should be a prequel to the movie, because it wouldn't be that smart if they scrapped a great movie.
What do you think? Do you like or dislike any of my ideas? Would you rather have a reboot to the Watchmen franchise or a prequel series to the movie? Please, let me know!
