Get ready to have your mind blown, people! See that photo above of Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen? Well, it's not actually a photograph, but a hyperrealistic painting created by a talented artist named Joongwon Jeong!
Jeong, who studied at Hongik University in South Korea is well known in the art world for his ability to produce insanely realistic paintings and drawings, and back in 2012 he created this wonderful portrait of Sir Ian.
Take a look through the process that Jeong took the canvas through, from beautiful sketch to photo-level realism:
Working from a photograph, Jeong first sketched McKellen's face on his 73 x 117 cm canvas (28 x 44 inches).
He then began to create that super realistic look using acrylic paint.

After he applied the finishing touches, Ian was ready for the world to see:
Jeong displayed his portrait at the Hongik Museum of Art at Hongik University in Seoul way back in March 2012, here it is on display:
However, Sir Ian McKellen isn't the only celebrity to have been painted or drawn by Jeong, take a look at some of his other amazing creations, and be sure to check out his Facebook page for more:
