Now, as a general rule of thumb, beloved movie icons like Darth Vader and Batman tend to only appear alongside one another in fan-made films, comic book crossovers and, occasionally, in our very wildest dreams.

What they don't stand the slightest chance of doing – for better or for worse – is teaming up in the same movie universe. After all, their rights are not only held by two different companies, but by two different companies in direct competition with each other, Disney and Warner Bros.

And so, we're never actually going to get to see Anakin and Bruce team up on the big screen, right?

Well, no, most likely not, but that hasn't stopped this from happening:

J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder Have Basically Invented a Parallel Universe Where 'Star Wars' and DC Crossover

Specifically, the two directors (of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, respectively) have, over the past year or so, engaged in an epic battle of social media-based franchise cross-pollination – one which has culminated in a world in which...

Bruce Wayne IS Darth Vader

Yup, that's right. Snyder recently replaced Batman v Superman's Batsuit with Darth Vader's iconic duds, implying that in this alternate universe I'm currently imagining, Wayne is in actual fact Vader.

Meanwhile, a long time ago, on a social media platform not so far away...

The Batmobile Turned Out to Be Hiding Underneath the Millenium Falcon

Which, actually makes a lot of sense, seeing as...

Superman Is Apparently a Sith Lord

And, of course...

John Boyega's Finn is Apparently Batman

And, as it turns out...

Batman Likes Hanging Out on Tatooine With Artoo

Though don't worry, Gotham City is still well looked after by his back-up:

There's a New Dark Knight in Town

All of which adds up to a universe which – while admittedly being completely insane – looks like a ridiculous amount of fun.

Make it happen, guys!

What do you think, though?
