As this new wave of intense Star Wars fever reaches its apex, all of us are gearing up to be adequately prepared when The Force Awakens finally lands in theaters. Whether you're putting your finishing touches on a costume or figuring out the safest way to bring in a lightsaber to your local cinema, the time is here for you to show that off.
The same can be said for the cast and crew, who were out in full force at last night's world premiere. While there were plenty of remarkable sights on the red carpet, none were more surprising than the transformation from one member of the original trilogy. Check out how much Mark Hamill has changed since becoming Luke again!
Here's what Hamill looked like back in 2012
Only three years ago, the best bush pilot in the Outer Rim Territories was rocking that Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirt with a solid dad bod.
But, apparently that all had to change when he was cast in J.J. Abram's reentry into a galaxy far, far away. Like Carrie Fisher, Hammill was asked to lose weight to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker, and he got really committed to the task. He told Rolling Stone:
"I'm on the 'if it tastes good, don't eat it' diet."
Based on his most recent appearance, opting for fruits and vegetables over potato chips and bagels has definitely paid off.
Look at Hamill now!
The actor lost around 50 lbs. and looks absolutely phenomenal at 64 years old. It may have been a pain in the ass getting there, but that kind of progress deserves a galactic amount of showing off.
Don't tell Mark that, though! According to him, he doesn't like getting the flurry of compliments:
"It implies that I looked so dreadful before!"
We definitely didn't think you looked dreadful before, Mark, but that doesn't mean you can't look amazing these days! Now that all the preparation has paid off, he can finally sit back and enjoy the biggest film of the year.
