No Man's Sky, with its some 18 quintillion planets, is designed to give every player that picks it up a singular experience of exploring the vast galaxies ahead of them. The chances of encountering other players is apparently rather slim, even though No Man's Sky is technically an online game.
Therefore, seeing as the possibility is there, albeit slim, gamers have discussed the potential of Hello Games incorporating a system to make things easier in terms of meeting up in space. While we don't want to impact on the intended singular experience of No Man's Sky - in fact we love the idea - we'd love to discuss the possibility of co-op in this highly anticipated space adventure.
No Man's Sky: Should Hello Games Include A Co-Op Option After Release Date?
I'm not really a multiplayer gamer. I enjoy singleplayer experiences; experiences that can have personal meaning for whoever engages with them. But there's something that's so alluring about flying around a galaxy with a friend by your side. We could land on separate parts of a planet and slowly make our way to one another, taking notes of everything we've discovered along the way.
For the time being, No Man's Sky is designed to be a singleplayer experience. The intention is that we all uncover ways to play the game that satisfy our own needs as gamers. We can focus on exploration, data collection, or even fighting - that's up to us. Yet Sean Murray has discussed the option of co-op before, but rather as a feature that would arrive after the initial release date of No Man's Sky.
He mentioned that perhaps a more classic multiplayer mode could be included which would grant friends the opportunity to explore the universe side-by-side. However, this would likely only be introduced if there was popular demand for such a feature. We honestly have no idea what it'll be like to play No Man's Sky for hours on end. Perhaps after a while we'll be desperate to see another explorer - perhaps that's the point.
What Feature Would You Ask Sean Murray For?
While I think the idea of co-op in [No Man's Sky](tag:2684052) sounds pretty cool, perhaps the notion of multiplayer would go against everything that Hello games are trying to achieve with their indie title. Perhaps it wouldn't be appropriate. But we'd love to hear from you in the comments below regarding features you'd like to see implemented into the game on its release date!
