It's almost time for us to be seated in a theater watching a brand new Star Wars movie! Although some fans are tempering their excitement in case of the worst, hopes remain high that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will atone for what happened with The Phantom Menace.
Let's be honest, 1999 was a dark time for the Star Wars fandom. But amidst generally bad reviews, some good still came from it in the form of fresh creative ideas. For instance, Jason 'ToyOtter' Geyer partnered with Pepsi and created a whole series of Star Wars concept toys in honor of the film's release.
Some toys were made, but other ideas were left behind. His team created hundreds of awesome ideas, but here are 21 that I think definitely should have made the cut:
1. Death Star Basketball
The Empire knows ball is life.
2. Cantina Pepsi Dispenser
I can practically hear the Cantina song playing from here.
3. Darth Vader Door Knocker
This perfectly sets you up for any good knock knock dad jokes.
4. Floating Landspeeder Can Koozie
Landspeeders aren't just for land anymore.
5. Death Star Galaxy Projector
I'll take it as long as it doesn't show any planets being blown up.
6. Gurgling Gungans
Just what in the holy heck is this?
7. Han in Carbonite Popsicle Mold
"I love popsicles." "I know."
8. Hidden Hero Figurines
Pepsi plus toys! What's not to love?
9. Inflatable Emperor's Throne
These would have replaced every single chair in my house.
10. Jedi Plastic Bottles
Might be a bit scary to see Obi-Wan Kenobi's head pop off like that though.
11. Darth Vader Lava Lamp
100% yes! Why doesn't this exist?
12. Lightsaber Flashlight
No lights? No problem!
13. R2-D2 Portable Wet Bar
This is exactly the droid I'm looking for.
14. Salt and Pepper Shakers
Dark side for pepper and light side for salt, of course.
15. Planet Snowglobes
Sadly, there is no Alderaan snowglobe.
16. Sound Chip Puppets
A Jar Jar Binks talking puppet would have been the perfect way to push my parents' sanity to its limits.
17. Sound Chip Tumbler and Stein
Sound chip technology was clearly a big thing back in 1999.
18. Star Wars Spirit Transformer
I never really understood these water things, but I feel that having one would cheer up my desk a bit.
19. Star Wars Stacking Figures
Because there's a tiny Anakin Skywalker inside of us all.
20. Darth Vader Magnetic Chip Clip With Sound
I find your lack of snacks disturbing.
21. Yoda's Dagobah Pencil Sharpener
Sharpen your pencils, you will!
