There has been a lot of buzz in recent months about the long awaited sequel to action films xXx and xXx: State of the Union. This week Vin Diesel himself added to that buzz with the announcement of a new cast member, and the return of an old one!
Diesel announced via his Instagram account that Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor will be joining the film in an as-yet-unspecified role. Take a look at the great shot of the pair from Vin's account:
That's one duo I wouldn't want to mess with!
McGregor is probably one of the most qualified people to join the cast of the stunt-filled film franchise, after knocking out the current #1 UFC pound-for-pound fighter in a record 13 seconds last weekend.
However, the casting news doesn't end with McGregor! Vin also announced via his Facebook account that Samuel L. Jackson will be making a return as NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons!
In other news for the third installment in the franchise, which is rumored to be either called xXx: The Return of Xander Cage or XxX: Xander Returns, the script is currently being worked on by Terminator Salvation writers Michael Ferris and John Brancato. Coming Soon also reports that Fast and Furious franchise producer Neal H. Moritz will be producing the film, which doesn't currently have an official release date, though filming is tipped to be starting soon.
