After working on two movies in Bryan Singer's cinematic X-Men universe, it's common knowledge that Jennifer Lawrence loves playing the shapeshifiting mutant but isn't exactly a fan of the long and arduous makeup process it takes to become Mystique.
Although it's great to see Singer avoiding the CGI route and going for practical effects, covering your entire body in makeup and prosthetics on the daily is a testament to any actor's dedication and patience.
So last week when we only saw Mystique missing her iconic blue skin and red hair in the trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, fans grew concerned.
But have no fear! In an interview for her upcoming movie Joy, CinemaBlend discussed the trailer and asked whether she will be blue at all or if she finally put her foot down.
Lawrence was quick to reassure them that she will don the blue skin-suit and makeup, but likely for less than in the previous films.
"I am blue in it, a little bit. I put my foot down as much as I could. [But] they were very, very nice to me."
I imagine it's hard to be anything but very, very nice to Jennifer Lawrence, but I'm glad to hear that she will still look like Mystique, even if the new trailer doesn't reflect that.
Also, as Jennifer Lawrence revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon a few years ago, the makeup process—most of which takes place sitting on a bicycle seat—is down from eight hours to only three, which I'm sure helped their case a bit.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on May 27, 2016.
