Whether you like it or not, a new female-driven Ghostbusters is on its way. With the filming wrapped in September and less than a year away from its release, people are eager to see what the new Ghostbusters has to offer.
This summer director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy) shared the following photo, showing Leslie Jones (Patty Tolan), Melissa McCarthy (Abby Yates), Kristen Wiig (Erin Gilbert), and Kate McKinnon (Jillian Holtzmann) standing in front of their specter-catching cruiser, Ecto-1.
While some fans were elated by the looks of the film and its stellar cast of comedians, others still have their doubts that it can live up to the high bar set by the 1984 comedy.
Since Paul Fieg's post, we've seen some photos from the set and other leaked images, but official word from the film has been quiet as of late. That is, until today. This morning, Sony released another image of the cast in full gear.
The photo, first shared by the Planet Ghostbusters Twitter account shows the four leads of the film bathed in green light and wielding Proton Packs.
So much green and standing in what looks like a hotel lobby only makes me think of one thing. Perhaps our new heroines will come face-to-face with an old Ghostbusters fan-favorite, Slimer.
Alongside the four female leads, the upcoming film also stars Chris Hemsworth as their assistant, SNL's Cecily Strong, and original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver in unspecified roles.
'Ghostbusters' will be released on July 15, 2016.
