#1 The True Lives of the fabulous

The true lives of the fabulous Killjoys is my all time favorite comic book series ever! It's action packed, post apocalyptic, in the middle of a desert, punk gangs that rebel against the "utopian society" Battery City. The art in it is just amazing and the color scheme perfect. Killjoys was written mainly by Gerard Way, drawn by Becky Cloonan, and published by Dark Horse comics. It was based off of Way's former band My Chemical Romance's last full album Danger Days. Which is also my favorite album by them. Personally I love the whole idea behind sarcastic humor, pirate radio stations, and awesome gang member names. Also that The Girl, the main character of the comic, basically saves the whole of California from the evil, controlling company BLI (Better Living Industries). It's just a comic book series, every issue 1-6 +Dead Satellites.

Look alive sunshine. 109 in the sky but the pigs won't quit. You're here with me, Doctor Death Defying. I'll be your surgeon, your proctor, your helicopter. Pumpin out the slaughtermatic sounds to keep you live. System failure for the masses, anti matter for the master plan. Louder than God's revolver and twice as shiney. This one's for all you rock and rollers, you crash queens, and motor-babies. Listen up the future is bulletproof, the aftermath is secondary, it's time to do it now and do it loud, Killjoys make some noise!

#2. Edge of Spider verse issue 5

This issue of Edge of Spider-verse is by far the best in the series! I love the way the whole thing is written and the style of art it is. SP//dr is the suit and the name of the spider. Peni Parker is Spider girl and finds out that she and all the other spider people are being targeted. It wasn't until I finished the comic when I looked over at the credits on who did the art, cover art, editing, writing, coloring, and so forth when low and behold, I have yet again fell in love with Gerard Way's writing. I in general love Spider-man though.

You know the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover". Well that's exactly what I did here, I looked at the cover and said "Holy (choice word) that looks awesome!" And I was right! Not only the art but the story rocked! Matt Fraction and Christian Ward took the Greek gods and goddesses and made them all female! Art is the biggest component for me. The art is beyond fantastic and in a contest for art this one wins first prize. I honestly love the way everything is so vibrant and colorful.

#4 Umbrella Academy

Yes, another Gerard Way comic book series. I just really love the whole series. Its really cool and really different. Each character is different and the story is very different from any superhero comic book series I have ever read. Therefor it's right up Dark Horse's alley. Gabriel Ba is an amazing artist and I love his work. So if you like dark and action packed twisted(ish) comic books this one is the best for you!

#5. On My Honor

I found this indie comic book at my local Comic Con and absolutely love the art in it! The artist told me that he uses dry brush inking to do most of his work. There are only two in the series so far and the story is yet to unfold, but so far the story is freaking awesome! There is a ton of mature themes and strong language throughout the entire comic, but it truly added to the story and to the characters. You can check out the comic at onmyhonorcomic.com. Please do these guys totally deserve the recognition.

Well that's it for this post. What's your favorite comic book or comic book series? Tell me in the comments below! If you liked this post share it with your friends! And until next time, I'm Julie and this has been another post on CesiumBomb!
