Have you seen it yet? [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) has finally been released and wow. Just wow. Living up to fan hopes, Star Wars 7 managed to balance nostalgia with a thrilling new story, making us fall in love with the new heroes of the saga while revealing what happened to our old favorite characters.

Naturally, there was a lot left hanging, with plenty of unanswered questions and plots to be resolved in [Star Wars: Episode VIII](tag:711868). So here are the big mysteries we want solved, as well as other things we're just dying to see happen!

Warning: this article is full of spoilers. It is entirely comprised of spoilers. So scroll down at your own risk. We've even put a handy video in to block the view!

Quickly rising to the rank of iconic villain, Kylo Ren was a fan favorite before The Force Awakens was even released. What we saw of him in the film really lived up to the hype, but there's still a lot of mystery surrounding his character. So number one on our list of things to see has to be...

1. Snoke Completing Kylo Ren's Training

Oooooh man. That was such a good reveal. We all just assumed that as the main antagonist Kylo Ren was already a master of the Dark Side. Now it seems as though he's still learning, which is unsurprising when we discovered that he didn't complete his training with Luke Skywalker.

Kylo Ren, or Ben Solo?
Kylo Ren, or Ben Solo?

I mean wow, how cool was that reveal? Not only is Kylo Ren actually Ben Solo ( / Organa /... Skywalker?), he trained with Luke to try and master his Force powers. But as Leia said, there was "too much Vader in him," and ultimately Ben was seduced to the Dark Side by Supreme Leader Snoke.

There wasn't a lot of time for The Force Awakens to explore this though, as the twist was revealed so late. But with Snoke planning to complete Kylo Ren's training, there's no doubt we'll get plenty of backstory, as well as some epic scenes with Kylo Ren fully mastering his Force abilities. We can't wait! And there's a question we desperately want answered...

2. Who Are The Knights Of Ren?

To be honest, I walked out of the cinema knowing absolutely no more about the Knights of Ren than I did before Star Wars 7 was released. Apart from the fact that Kylo Ren is definitely their leader, which has interesting implications...

Who are the Knights of Ren?
Who are the Knights of Ren?

We also got the brief flashback to Kylo Ren's rebellion against Luke Skywalker, thanks to Rey's vision. That's where the shot of the Knights of Ren appeared. So are these Knights Luke's other acolytes? Did Kylo Ren persuade them to go to the Dark Side too? The way Snoke referred to the Knights did make it seem as though Kylo Ren formed the group, instead of the other way around. Hmm. Answers in Star Wars Episode 8 please!

3. Who Are Rey's Parents?

And speaking of backstory, it would be 100% fantastic to finally discover who Rey's parents actually are. After waiting for years for them on Jakku, Rey was reluctant to stay away too long, just in case her parents returned. Her longing to see her family again just made Maz Kanata's words all the more poignant...

"You're waiting for them, but you know in your heart will they will never return."

Ultimately, Rey managed to overcome her desire to return to Jakku, and fought back against Kylo Ren when he tried to tempt her to the Dark Side.

(Sidenote: how awesome was their final lightsaber battle? I'm still reeling.)

The possibilities really are endless when it comes to Rey's parents, and the option was definitely left open for her father to be Luke Skywalker. Personally, I'd rather see something a bit different, as there are so many stories left to tell, and it would be really interesting to discover new characters. Why Rey's parents abandoned her would also provide some crucial world-building, and help explain what happened after Return Of The Jedi...

4. What Happened In Those 30 Years?

Let's face it – this isn't really something we were desperate to see in Star Wars 7. Explaining the situation in the galaxy, how the war the Rebellion supposedly won somehow continued, would take far too much time and could get dull. However, this 30-year time jump after Return Of The Jedi contains some pretty vital backstory points, and we'd like to get some hints about this in Episode 8! And we know exactly who could reveal this story...

5. More From General Leia!

Han Solo definitely had a starring role in The Force Awakens, and with good reason. After all, he needed a good send-off! But I for one was somewhat disappointed with how little we saw of General Leia.

If you need me, I'll just be sobbing in a corner.
If you need me, I'll just be sobbing in a corner.

After J.J. Abrams revealed Leia wouldn't be a Jedi, fan hopes were high that we'd see plenty of Leia leading the Rebelli... sorry, Resistance. With Rey off on her mission to train with Luke, it's likely we'll see more of Leia's plan to fight The First Order, as Finn finds his place in the Resistance. And here's hoping that after he killed Han Solo, Kylo Ren must face his mother's grief!

6. What Will Finn Do Next?

Shockingly, Finn actually tapped out for the film's final moments, after Kylo Ren viciously cut him down in their lightsaber battle. The Force Awakens ended with Finn recuperating with the Resistance. It seems highly likely he'll train as a Resistance soldier, or maybe even a pilot! But will he return to his origins?

Star Wars 7 broke ground with its portrayal of Stormtroopers, using humor and tragic moments to humanize The First Order's soldiers. The first time we encounter Finn, he's shocked as a fellow trooper is slain. If Finn's story proved nothing else, it's that there is hope for more Stormtroopers to defect from The First Order, and an influx of new soldiers could only help the Resistance after the Republic was destroyed.

7. Poe Dameron & Finn Team Up?

Before Finn met Rey, he and Poe Dameron had an exciting, albeit brief, journey together.

Finn: "This is a rescue. I'm rescuing you."
Poe: "Why?"
Finn: "Because it's the right thing to do."
Poe: "You need a pilot."
Finn: "I need a pilot."

Poe Dameron was an excellent new character, but we didn't get to see much of him in Star Wars 7. Here's hoping that Episode 8 will give Poe Dameron some more screen time, and it would be awesome if he and Finn team up!

Bonus: More Phasma!

I've already reached 7 things but I can't ignore Captain Phasma, who was tragically underused in The Force Awakens. Here's hoping we see more of the badass Stormtrooper commander in the next Star Wars Saga film!

Of course, there are plenty things to look forward to in Star Wars 8, so what would you like to see? Let us know in the comments, or write your own post!
