If you grew up watching The Little Mermaid you probably wanted to trade your legs for fishtails at some point. Sebastian had us convinced - life simply must be better down where it's wetter!

Well this guy from China had that same dream. But instead of forgetting about his childhood aspirations he made his dream come true. Nicknamed Lonny, he is a Chinese university student who spent two months crafting his own mermaid tail. The video of him swimming around in the university lake has now gone viral, and it's truly inspiring to see him achieve his goal.

Apparently the lake was particularly cold that day, but Lonny went for a swim regardless, not ready to give up on his lifelong dream. When asked why he wanted so badly to be a mermaid, Lonny gave a heartwarming reply.

"I got to know the story of Little Mermaid by reading when I was about 10 years old, and I cried for a long time. I have a special aspiration and respect towards this animal. It represented dedication and sacrifice for true love."

You can't deny that Lonny has dedication, it is clear to see that his childhood heroine is still with him today. Lonny's story is truly touching and it inspires us all to follow our hearts no matter what we want to be in life.
