The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Harrison Ford, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher and loads more people. For years people have been wanting someone to restore faith in the Star Wars series, luckily J.J. and Co. have done just that with flying colors.
Hands down this is the best Star Wars film we have had since the original trilogy, it is also one of the most entertaining films I have seen all year. It's incredibly fast paced for a two hour movie and every minute is worth it.
The new cast are great. John Boyega as Finn is great, Daisy Ridley as Rey is amazing and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren was surprisingly incredible. For those who thought Kylo Ren would be a one dimensional villain, he's not. He goes through a lot of emotions and there is a lot of depth to his character. My favorite character by far is Poe Dameron who knows he's the best pilot in the galaxy but isn't cocky about it.
The old cast are good and relevant. They aren't shoehorned into the movie they actually have a purpose in the story, especially Han Solo.
The directing from J.J. Abrams is perfect, it feels just like one the original Star Wars films whilst also being unique and refreshing. John Williams score is also great as it blends elements of the old with some new ones as well.
If you think this is going to be a 10/10 film, it isn't. There are a few minor flaws that are noticeable but won't stop your enjoyment of the film. The first one being that with such an emphasis on practical effects some fully CGI characters look a little out of place. Also there a few plot-holes scattered throughout the film, some things aren't explained and don't make sense.
Another thing which i think is absolutely fine but some people may have a problem with is that is goes past incredibly quick and that it ends on a cliffhanger.
Apart from those very minor flaws I had an amazing time with The Force Awakens, let's just say it bought tears of joy to my eyes.
