Sometimes all you need is a couple of your best friends and an awesome movie with strong interesting female characters. Unfortunately, we don't have a huge pile of these to choose from yet (we can do it, filmmakers), but there are some unmissable ones that will make you and your friends laugh it off.

Get your popcorn ready, it's movie time! These are 6 films with a predominant female cast you need to watch for quality best friend time — guaranteed.

1. 'Thelma & Louise' (1991)

Badass 100%, Thelma & Louise is the rollercoaster you've always wanted to hop onto. An unmissable classic.

"You still look like a movie. You still sound like a song. My God this reminds me of when we were young." Yes, I am quoting the great Adele. Now And Then is one of those movies that marked our childhood. It's time for a re-watch.

3. 'Clueless' (1995)

The adaptation of Emma by Jane Austen takes us into an unrealistic world that makes awesome Halloween costumes. Feeling Clueless?

4. 'Mean Girls' (2004)

A decade later, another high school, another great comedy. Tina Fay writes and stars in Mean Girls... and Jingle Bell Rock was never taken seriously again.

5. 'Bridesmaids' (2011)

Last but not least, Sisters is a blast. I watched it with a friend and we were laughing out loud with the rest of the theater. Back to where we started. Grab your friends, some popcorn and your sense of humor. You're up for a hilarious sis comedy ride.

Sisters , staring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, is in theaters December 18.
