Although I'm discussing aspects of the 'Star Wars VII' trailers that didn't make the final cut, you can expect spoilers ahead.

It's no secret that film-makers consistently make more content than they need, much of which is excluded from the final cut. Consequently, much of what is filmed never actually makes it to our screens and we lose out on some quality content. This can happen because it doesn't quite fit the story, because the shot wasn't perfect, or because there simply isn't room for the sequence.

J. J. Abrams took charge of the promotional material for Star Wars VII and included tones of material which never actually made it to the screens.

If you go shot-by-shot through the trailer there are loads, but I've included some of the bigger ones below. Did you spot any others?

1. "Who are you?"

In several trailers we hear Maz Kanata ask "Who are you," to which Rey replies, "I'm no one." This seems to have been recorded specifically for the trailer, as we never heard the words during the Star Wars VII.

2. Rey enters the Star Destroyer

A fantastic moment where we see an extreme long shot of Rey outside the exhaust of a derelict Star Destroyer. Although we see Rey inside the ship at the very beginning of Star Wars VII, this particular shot wasn't included.

3. Maz offers a lightsaber

In the second teaser trailer we see Maz Kanata hand a lightsaber to someone, who we can assume is Leia based on Luke's voice-over. You'll remember that Finn acquired the lightsaber from Maz and held on to it for much of the movie.

4. Luke's voiceover

In yet another trailer voice-over we hear Luke talking to someone, saying: "The force is strong in my family. My father has it, have it, my sister has it; you have that power too!" Perhaps we can expect this soon-to-be-iconic phrase in Star Wars VIII.

5. Kylo Ren's cross-guard lightsaber

One of the most talked-about moments in all the new Star Wars trailers was the cross-guard lightsaber. Although we saw a lot of Kylo Ren's lightsaber and we even saw him on the above planet, this particular shot was not used in the final edit.

Bonus! Constable Zuvio

He never appeared in a trailer, but Constable Zuvio was in fact released as an action figure, described as a rough law-enforcer on Jakku. It's possible they could be saving Zuvio for a later movie, but will our protagonists really go back to the desert planet? He's certainly a figure I'd like to see more of in a directors cut.

Remind yourself of some of the incredible moments from the 'Star Was VII' trailers!
