With every passing year comes the necessary look back at what occurred, and the absolute saddest element of this reflection comes with all the ones we lost. This is a list of the stars who passed away in 2015, but they will certainly be remembered for the amazing work they did.

1. Sir Christopher Lee

The veteran actor was 93 years old when he passed away due to heart problems on June 7, 2015. His long and diverse legacy includes unforgettable roles in Dracula, The Man with the Golden Gun, and, of course, The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

2. Maureen O'Hara

The legendary screen star, known for enduring roles in Miracle on 34th Street, How Green Was My Valley, and The Parent Trap, passed away in her sleep in October of this year. She was 95 years old and will always be remembered as one of the major glamorous stars of Old Hollywood.

3. Anne Meara

As part of the 1960s comedy team Stiller and Meara, Anne Meara was making people laugh before her son Ben Stiller was even on Hollywood's radar. She went on to a fruitful career on screen and stage, and I'll always remember her for her recurring role in Sex and the City.

4. Ben Woolf

The American Horror Story actor was tragically killed by injuries he incurred crossing the street in Hollywood, where he was clipped by the side-view mirror of a passing SUV. He was only 34 years old.

5. Sawyer Sweeten

As one of the twins in Everybody Loves Raymond, Sawyer Sweeten was a major fixture of the TV landscape for years. Sadly, the 19-year-old took his own life in April of this year. He is survived by his mother, father, stepfather, and nine siblings.

6. Robert Loggia

Nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Jagged Edge, Robert Loggia is best known for his roles in Scarface and Big. At age 85, Loggia passed away from Alzheimer's disease on December 4, 2015.

John Lennon's first wife Cynthia Lennon made a name for herself publishing memoirs including A Twist of Lennon and John. She died of cancer on April 1, 2015.

8. Scott Weiland

As the flamboyant and unpredictable lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland's career spanned three decades and multiple styles. He passed away from an accidental overdoes on December 3, 2015 amid a long battle with substance abuse.

9. David Canary

David Canary died of natural causes on November 16, 2015. He is remembered as a TV mainstay who was always devoted to his fans of All My Children and Bonanza.

10. Amanda Peterson

The charming star of Can't Buy Me Love, Amanda Peterson, died of an accidental drug overdose in July of this year. She was just shy of her 44th birthday.

11. Rod Taylor

Perhaps best known for his work in Alfred Hitchock's The Birds and a turn as Winston Churchill in Inglourious Basterds, Rod Taylor passed away from a heart attack at the age of 84 years old.

12. Joshua Shintani

After battling an advanced case of pneumonia, Joshua Shintani passed away on his native Hawaii at only 32 years old. His cameo in Shallow Hal, where he played the ukelele, led him to become something of a local celebrity.

13. Geoffrey Lewis

The character actor and father to Juliette Lewis died on April 7, 2015 after a long career playing some memorable villains. His daughter posted the following tribute on Instagram:

My dad. Oh my heart. My heart. He loved us so. He loved us so. So so much. I am forever my father's daughter and he will never been gone.

14. Omar Sharif

The Egyptian actor's career spans back to the 1950s, and Omar Sharif is best remembered for roles in classics like Doctor Zhivago, Funny Girl, and Lawrence of Arabia. He died of a heart attack in Cairo at the age of 83 years old.

15. Taylor Negron

With comedic roles in movies and TV shows (most memorably for me, Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Taylor Negron had an accomplished career that lasted decades. He died of liver cancer at the age of 57 years old, surrounded by family at his Los Angeles home.

16. Bobbi Kristina Brown

At only 22 years old, Bobbi Kristina endured scary parallels to her mother's tragic death, when she was found unresponsive in a bathtub. After a medically induced coma, she died in hospice care on July 26, 2015.

Yvonne Craig was TV's original Batgirl, who also played the Orion slave girl in Star Trek. She passed away at 78 years old from breast cancer.

The actor and politician, best known for his role on Law & Order and its various spin-offs, passed away in November at 73 years old.

19. Wes Craven

With classics like Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left, and Scream, Wes Craven has left behind a lifetime of work in horror that won't soon be forgotten. He passed away from brain cancer at the age of 76 years old.

20. Leonard Nimoy

Lastly, we're leaving you with the death that affected us the most this year. As the beloved character Spock in Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy taught us all about the beauty of logic and rationality. At 83 years old, he passed away this year due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
